I strayed miserably from my WW plan - VERY VERY VERY BAD 4 months.

Anyways I started Atkins 5 days ago(because DH wanted to lose weight but would only do ATKINS) And I am shocked of how much I don't feel hungry - I don't miss the breads.pasta etc - and I feel sooo much more energized and its only been 5 days! I did the keto strips and its purple but I REFUSE to step on the scale until the 2 week mark - and then depending how much or little I have lost I will decide if I want to stay on induction a couple more weeks or if I want to enter OWL phase.

Now all that being said can anyone direct me to a good recipe site? and have any of you fellow Atkin doers used any low carb products and what do you think of them? Do you have an "I can't live with out it" low carb treat?

Thanks for all info and advice

Hi Sue!

Welcome to low carbing! I guess I'm not technically low carbing being on South Beach but many of the concepts are the same for Atkins and South Beach (or at least they are in my mind :)).

You should check out www.lowcarbfriends.com for recipes. They have absolutely everything there and just about all the recipes I have followed have been delicious. Everything from the mock french toast, to taco meatballs, crustless pizza and buffalo chicken strips and the shrimp alfredo are just great! And they have a ton of desserts like lc cheesecake, brownies, 3 minute chocolate cake and even cookies.

As far as low carb products go, I just bought the Carb Options double cheddar cheese sauce because it came highly recommended and so is the Carb Options bbq sauce, steak sauce and ketchup. I'm sure a true Atkins person can give you even more suggestions.

My favorite can't live without it treat is homemade chocolate Jello pudding cups where I use part 1% milk and part heavy whipping cream and then pour the batter into muffin tins (it makes six). When it sets and I'm ready to eat one, I give it a squirt of reduced calorie whipped cream. I made these for a party a few weeks ago and one of my friends said it tasted like real european mousse to her - she's a flight attendant and flies international a lot. I took that as high praise!

This is a wonderful way of life and I know you'll have a nice loss after your first two weeks. Please keep us posted on your progress! :)

welcome back!!!! missed ya!!

PD to you for your new healthy eating plan! i'm still on WW so I have no low-carb advice but with all those new products and your 'gung-ho'ness I know you will succeed!

Welcome back, Sue. I'm so glad to see you again. We have some good recipes on our Eating Healthy board, too.

I can't wait to see how much you lose during induction. Isn't ketosis the greatest thing?
