Its about 8 weeks til we go away to Florida for the first time and I always said that this would be the time to check all our paperwork and start making lists for what we need etc..

I am worried that I might look over something blatantly obvious I have so much swimming round in my head so if anyone can point out anything I might have overlooked:

1. Check passports (machine readable and current)
2. Check Drivers licenses (new licenses - picture card- also to be used as extra ID)
3. Check booking with cab company (changes in flight numbers and flight times)
4. Check dog sitter booking
5. Check BIL and Dad remember to take Forces ID

I think thats it - I have ordered my holiday money as rates were good so I will need to make a list of the travellers cheques numbers and I must also make a note of telephone numbers and addresses at home for postcards, phonecalls etc.

Anything else?

Thanks!!!

I always make copies of the following just incase they get lost etc!

Passports
Drivers License
Park Tickets

Park passes?
Travel insurance?
Flight tickets?
Directions to accommodation?
Accommodation booking info?
Coins or low denomination notes for toll?
Car hire booking information?
Itinerary?
PS reference nos?

How about a daily park guide what you are doing on what day orlando is very big and without some sort of plan you may miss some of the best bits.

My mum has all the holiday paperwork and tickets (as she is paying for it!)

we dont have the final flight tickets, travel insurance, accommodation info etc. yet (does anyone know when this will come through?)

but we do have our park tickets.

I'll make sure I take photocopies of all our tickets, IDs etc. (good thinking!!!)

Booked 1 PS - I'll make a note of that one (except I cant remember which card no I gave them!)

We dont have any US coinage yet. Any ideas how to get some - can I get change at the airport?

Park Plan - I have put a plan together - not an itenery as such, just a park synopsis: quiet days, whats in the parks etc. so we can decide a day in advance depending on how we are feeling.

I must admit I am not 100% comfortable with my mum having all the paperwork so we are going to sit down altogether one Sunday and go through everything (which is why I wanted a checklist!)

Many Thanks

You should also take the paper copy as the car rental company might request it.

this caught me out when I hired a car. I have got my husbands with his drivers license but need to remind my dad as he will also be driving when out there.

Thanks!!!

Hi, sound's like you have most thing's covered.
One suggestion for your postcards, why dont you write all your addreses on those white sticky labels, I know it sounds silly but it's amazing how long it takes to write and fit all those addreses onto a postcard. By doing it this way you can get your postcards stick your pre written labels on them , put your stamps on and voila, space to write HAVING A FAB TIME WISH YOU WERE HERE!!!!!
How sad am I ? !!!!!!!!
One other thing when you get to the airport and collect your car, don't be fazed by them telling you to upgrade etc, stand your ground as occasionally they will try it on and have been known to worry people silly.
If you have pre booked your car etc you have everything you need insurance etc.
Anyway have a fab time, lot's of fun and if you have time tell us all about it on your return.

Dear Lisagirly

One thing you mustn't forget ................ RELAX AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!!!

Paper work of your Drivers Licence!

If you have the photo drivers licence, dont forget the paper part aswell.

Pack a pen for the VISA forms you have to fill out on the plane.

If you can get them, buy the park tickets here. I have just got back from Florida and thought they would be cheaper over there. I was wrong. After all the tax it works out much more.

Thats all I can really think of, it sounds as though you have most of the items covered. Well done!

we are all taking our photo drivers licence as extra ID (as we dont want to carry our passports around with us while on holiday). But is it only the actual people that will be driving out there that need to take their paper parts or do we all need to take them as part of the ID?

Thanks

No, only people who are intending to drive out there. Your picture drivers licence will be fine as extra I.D.

Have a great time!

It may sound trivial but I always find having a print out of the park hours during my stay at hand helps to plan the days and make any last minute changes whilst I'm there

I'll do that too - havent even looked yet! I am guessing they should have published their August hours by now?

Thanks!

hours have been published..

we go 20th Aug and noticed that some of the parks close really early during our 2nd week.. so we will be able to now take this into account while planning
