My guide called me at 5 telling me if we wanted to move ahead we had to do it by 7. And I did it. 😬 125 OKW. I hate having to make the decision under pressure. I thought it would be fall before they start hiking prices and minimums. I would have liked SSR because of the lower dues, even at the higher price, but I was more comfortable at 125 points. I am sure OKW will go up soon too.

He told me he can only spread out the payments on my Disney card up to 15 days - not 30, 60, or 90 as people here have said. He even told me someone else had asked him that today too and he didn't know where people were getting that idea. I said I knew someone who did.

By the time I got around to checking, I already had points in my account and a shiny new blue card! I haven't even signed yet. I did get 2020 points and he did make it sound like a really cool extra. We are here now, and I can confirm that people have been offering us the discount on the white card. I haven't said anything but if asked if I am DVC I say yes. They ask to see my card and ID and have given me the discount. In fact, at some restaurants they just bring me the bill after I magic band it and say "I saw you are DVC so I adjusted the bill for you." Too bad we went to Epcot yesterday. 😆

Anyone else do it last minute?

Congratulations! OKW is great and it’s a good deal with the direct 2057 expiration.

We bought RIV on a spur of the moment it’s now or never on the good incentives they had in March. We ended up paying $176 per point and got 2020 points for our April UY with only 3 days to spare since we signed on March 27th and they were courtesy banked by MS through online chat. They did give me the 90 days to pay with three equal payments charged to my Disney visa at 30, 60 and 90. I think in 10 years time we will both look back and be happy we made the choices we did to buy more DVC points.

Congratulations! We actually caved a couple weeks ago before the price hike, called our guide, and were told they would not courtesy bank our 2020 points if we got a UY still in 2020, then upon further asking we were told they had no points for the UY we wanted and we’d have to be waitlisted. Needless to say we were flummoxed they didn’t want our money! So we figured maybe it wasn’t meant to be right now. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But exciting for you!!!

Yes, I was initially on the waitlist for SSR at 165 before the price went up too. I'd be very surprised if anyone got points off the waitlist. 😆

Ok, So I'm a first time buyer and I have been going back and forth with direct or resale. Been thinking about it for a year but hardcore the past 2 months. When my guide told me a few days ago that its 125 now or 150 Wed night I was in a panic. At the end of the day it was 160 AKL resale @$125pp or 125 OKW direct with both options being 20k plus closing and fees. Direct also gave me an extra 125 points for 2020 since I wanted an Aug use year. When it came down to crunch time I went with AKL resale because 160 points gives us more options than 125 each year. I'm hoping I make it past ROFR but it was really stressful since I overthink every option. Glad to be part of the community.

I bit the bullet too and bought 150 points at Saratoga ($159 per point with the add-on discount). However, I called my guide today and I'm thinking about switching to Rivera ($186 per point) because there is NOTHING available in the 7 month window and that concerns me. We won't always want to stay at Saratoga (although the refurb is nice).

The next few years are going to be tough for fall vacationers.

We also got add-on-itis and bought 250 RIV points direct. I do have to say the process of buying direct is so much easier than resale. Of course, I paid a price premium for that fast smooth transaction!

There was some discussion, but we have currently decided to live with what we have.
DLT may break us.....

What is a legacy contract?
So legacy is original contract with extension. making it legal for all?
Is this offered with OKW only but maybe with other expiring contracts someday ?

My word to describe our direct purchase over the weekend 125 OKW 2057 gift to our son and DIL. "Legacy" because we originally bought OKW in 1996 when our son was 8 years old. He's now 33 and married. We offered them a direct contract and they chose OKW. Nostalgia is a big part of our Disney experiences! :wizard:

Definition of legacy

1: a gift by will especially of money or other personal property

Congratulations to you and all the new recent buyers.

When we bought all of our points/add-ons, we put it on our cc. As soon as the charge was posted on our account within days (checked on-line), we paid the card (since it went over the limit) and then DVC added the balance to the card again - always paid in full. We never carry a balance on our cc so we charged the max.

Welcome Home!

I got a last minute phone call from my DVC guide last night at 6 pm to ask me one final time if I wanted to add on 125 points before the raise to 150 points today.
(I own 50 points resale and she was speaking to me before about adding on 25 points direct.)
She also told me she had no idea the points would be raised since she was on vacation the last week.
I think this is interesting if true about raising the points so quickly without letting their own sales employees know until the week of...

My guide had also been off since last week and I asked him about it. He said they were all informed in an email the day before the price increase on SSR. And same with the increase - they didn't have much warning. I feel like when the increase was going up to 100 we knew for weeks beforehand.

Welcome Home!

You get 6 months 0% on the Disney card for DVC, and some people have been able to get that spaced out some. I was hoping to too.

Sounds like a great sales incentive= how many points can you sell after this information is given to the public
