Mom and Dad are joining us at the BWV half way through our trip. They arrive on Wednesday to check in, but we will be at MK that day. :cool1:

So I told them we will take an afternoon break and meet them back at the BWV for a bit and then we are headed back to the park.

This is their first trip to the Boardwalk and Dad's first trip to Disney EVER! :goodvibes

So where should I send them to dinner that night at the Boardwalk since they will be on their own for the evening????? :confused3

Any advice...They love to eat and love everything??

How is Spoodles???? :sunny:

Thanks.... :cloud9:

We are so excited!! I can finally say we are going next month!

I personnally haven't tried it yet but due to so many good reviews we're trying the Flying Fish this July. I've heard it's one of the best restaurants on property. I've also heard alot of locals have dinner there. That's always a good sign.

Send them to Flying Fish, it is very good. I especially like the potato-crusted snapper.

We went to the Flying Fish for my birthday a couple of years ago & it was fabulous! Spoodles has had mixed reviews, but we had a nice b'fast there. Blue Zoo & Shula's at the Dolphin (a hop, skip, & jump from the Boardwalk) also have gotten good reviews, but I haven't tried them.

We liked both Flying Fish and Spoodles, FF probably a little fancier feeling, Spoodles food has always been good for us. Both are great!

Ok..What if they did not want to go that expensive?? How is the Big River Grille and Brewing works?? :confused3
They may just want something casual and Dad may just want a beer and a nice meal? :goodvibes

We have Ohana's planned for Thursday and Teppanyaki at Japan for Friday night. (hope I spelled that right?)

So many choices!!! ugh

Thanks,
Michelle

To me it depends on what your parents are like...and depends on what they will best enjoy after traveling and unpacking...sometimes the last thing people want to do on that day is get dressed for dinner in a nice restaurant...vice-versa, sometimes that is what some people love to do after traveling and unpacking!

Me, now I'm the sort who would want to arrive, unpack, take a shower, not have to particularly worry about my hair...grab my guy's hand and amble around the resort, maybe take a FriendShip over to the Beach Club/ Yacht Club...share a malted and a sandwich with onion rings, maybe some ice cream at Beaches'n'Cream. If your parents were born in the 40's as I am, they'll like this little place.

Beaches'n'Cream is exactly half-way between the Beach Club and the Yacht Club in case you haven't eaten there yet.

I'm not sure, but isn't the ESPN club around there somewhere, too? That sounds like a nice place to have a beer and a meal...unless mom doesn't care so much for a sport centered eating place.

I have not heard good things about Big River Grill, and Flying Fish would be my first choice for them, but I understand about the money aspect. For a less expensive meal why not try the Yacht Club Galley or Beaches and Cream? True, neither of them are fine dining, but both serve good food.

Flying Fish is great, but expensive.

Spoodles is not bad. Much less expensive, still good food - but it can be a little hit and miss.

Big River doesn't get great reviews here.

I didn't like Beaches and Cream at all - not worth the walk or the money. Other people love it.

Cape May has a well liked (we've never been) Seafood Buffet. Its a walkable distance over to the Y&BC.

ESPN apparently has good bar food (burgers, wings). We could smell stale cigarette smoke when they were cleaning the next morning, so we won't ever go it to try the food, but other people like it.

Cape May seafood buffet would be an excellent choice if Flying Fish is a little too expensive. Cape May is one of our all time faves. We go a couple of times every trip. Food is always fresh and service is fabulous. When they finish their meal, they can walk around the Boardwalk and enjoy some of the shops. I think they would really enjoy it.

Spoodles and ESPN have always been very good as well, but I would suggest Cape May for the atmosphere.

They are the type that will not want to dress up after a travel day. So something casual would be right up their alley.

I have been to Cape May and that was a lot of fun.

Beaches and cream sounds good too. I am printing some info off of the Allearsnet site and taking it home to them. :thumbsup2

They will just love walking around the Boardwalk area. I can't believe that I have finally gotten them down to Disney!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I think my DD and I ate breakfast at Spoodles one morning when we stayed at the S/D and we loved it. Big Mickey belgian waffles with bacon! YUM!

Depending on what you think they would have a taste for i agree with a lot of the other posts, but for me Seafood 1. Blue Zoo at the Dolphin, 2. Flying Fish. Steak 1. Shula's at the Dolphin 2. Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club.

Spoodles is one of those places you can get off pretty reasonably with a bowl of pasta for about $15 or if you're not careful run up a $70 tab all by your onesies. We loved it.

Trouble with Beaches and Cream tho is that your dad won't be able to get a beer there--.

Well I will give them all their options and then they can decide. :thumbsup2
You guys have all been very helpful! Thanks so much...

Sounds like there are many choices in the Boardwalk area... :cloud9:

You know what, Josie...

If they have a refrigerator in their room (not sure if BWV has them?), I'd put a six-pack of his favorite special beer in it...ask your mom...before they arrive. Heck, since it's his first visit I'd even leave my family for a while in MK to come back and do it before they get in.

If you have a refrigerator in your room and they do too, this should be a snap to do even just shortly before they get in...and don't forget to put mom's favorite beverage in also!

Ozymoe,
Great Idea... We were planning an afternoon pool break anyway!!
BWV do have a fridge in the studios... :thumbsup2

I can get dad a 6 pack of his favorite beer and then get mom some mudslides if I can find them.... Maybe I will put them in my carry on when we head down there.

MK is open till 10:00pm and so we have plenty of time to go back for the late afternoon and evening....

I love all the planning!!! You guys are so helpful! :cheer2:

Do you think that the front desk would put them in there room for me on that Wednesday??? I won't know what studio they have till they check in?? :confused3
