Ok, What Does "Bump" Mean?

I don't get it. When I see a post and then the reply says "bump". What am I missing?

When you post a response, the thread "bumps" back to the top of the message board.

someone will usually respond with 'bump' if there have not been many responses to a question in order to get the post back to near the top of the topic. that will get more people to read it an hopefully get an answer for the person posting the question.
