I love love looovveee reading all of these great trip reports! We are going to WDW in Sept. :woohoo: and I'm wondering how you keep such a great record of your events...Do you carry a notebook with you and write stuff down as you go? Or do you just sit down at the end of the day and record everything? Some of these reports are so detailed (which I love) I'm just curious how to go about this. (just in case I decide to write up a report). Thanks so much for any input you have! :thanks:

I just finished posting my first trip report yesterday and I did it mainly from memory. I did have my notebook with all our ADRs listed and park hours and info so I could piece things together from that. It did mean that I had no idea which days I rode certain rides if we went to that park more then 1 day.

We're going again in September and I'm hoping to keep a little notebook and just jot down what park on what day and what rides we rode that day. I too would be interested in hearing what other people do.

most resorts have pads next to the phones in the rooms....I always jot down a few facts so that I will remember little things

Hi gavsmom. I took a small (like, 4x6) spiral notebook with me and stuck it in the backpack we carried everywhere. I jotted down little notes that made sense only to me. I would write the notes while on the bus, in lines, or at the pool. It really helped me!

I took pictures of EVERYTHING! We were in Orlando for 10 days and I took 577 pictures with my digital camera. Our hotel, food, rides, stores, scenic, characters, you name it, I probably took a picture of it! :thumbsup2 The nice thing about a digital camera is that you can take A LOT of pictures and they are in dated order. So, if you forgot what day you went to AK you can go back and check the date of your pictures. I wrote my entire trip report from pictures and memory. This works really well for Christmas letters too. I just review all of my pictures from the year and write the letter. I LOVE my digital camera, and I don't know how I survived this long with out one! (I spent a lot of $$$ developing film and only used 40% of the shots). Have a great time!

I used to write everything down at the end of the day for our OWN memories and then share them online...then, I started videotaping everything (except the rides) so I pretty much remembered what we did...now I do it all from memory. We always wrote down the really nice CMs and the really not-so-nice CMs so we could write letters...and that jogged our memories about certain situations as well. I guess it all depends on what works best for you.

I haven't written a trippie here (yet), but I scrapbook and tend to do them in chronological order. I found that buying a postcard everyday from where I went, then writing what we did (preferably in the order we did it), along with some phrases that will help me remember something particularly sweet/funny/etc, works well for me. That, plus I have another picture that can potentially go in my scrapbook.

Actually, my Mom laughs at me, but one of the last things we do each night is go over my postcard - I read it out and she makes sure it's right!

Hi  I used the Passporter and jotted down notes for every day; it was a pleasant way to relax by the lake in the morning at POP Century! And, it helped me not only write my recent trip report, but also will be useful to cherish the memories for years to come! :)

I start with a printed itinerary that I do before we even leave home--can't help it as I was a protocol type in the military for awhile. I use that as my basic tool when I get back home since it tells me the main events like which park on which day, where we ate, which fireworks show we saw, etc. To that, I added the notes I jotted down at the end of each day. Toss in a healthy dose of humor to keep the masses from getting bored, and voila! Good luck and have fun. My one bit of advice is don't worry so much about exactly what you are doing that it supercedes the #1 directive for being on vacation--having fun. :thumbsup2

I have a slightly unorthodox method.
I take lots of notes all day long.

Then I lose them and so I write the report from memory. :rotfl2:

Also I plan my trips down to the hour (really I am very flexible, so long as everyone sticks to my plan), so I have the plan of attack as a starting point (just like :sunny: D, I mean SleepyDog25)

Mine came from memory. I tried to savor every minute we were there and store it in my memory. My friends say I have a memory like an elephant! LOL! I've just always been able to recall things in vivid detail for some reason. I missed a lot of photo ops because I was taking it all in and being in the moment instead of fumbling for my camera. Don't get me wrong, I came home with 150 pics, just enjoy your time and don't think about taking notes all day or you may miss a great moment writing another one down. :)
