I feel bad enough about taking up space with the ECV and even worse about taking up more space using a seat! Is it ok to sit on the ECV on the bus?

it's not a good idea I had to once because it was standing room only and I can't stand for long. It's not very stable the bus driver tightened the tie downs as much as he could but it still didn't feel safe

If you stay on the ECV, the bus driver must strap you in it. It's for your own safety. They prefer that you sit in a bus seat.

They can and do tip over on the bus, so it is not that safe to sit on an ECV on the bus. There are signs posted to advise ECV riders that they should get off and sit in a bus seat. So, you are keeping yourself and other people seated near the ECV safer by sitting on a bus seat.

ECVs are not meant to be tied down for transport. Most of the places that the tiedown straps can be connected are very low, near the wheels, so even the best tie down is not that secure.
When someone is sitting on it, it is pretty top heavy, so it doesn't take much to tip it over. The 4 wheeled versions are less likely to tip over because they have 4 wheels, but many are fairly narrow for how tall they are.
The 3 wheeled versions are more likely to tip.

NOT suppose to sit on the ECV and really do not like to but if bus full and driver ask me to would as they belt you in but if that ever turns over driver be in trouble as those so heavy...and no one is to sit on or in it if your out of it either. most drivers want you out and the seat back pushed down for that reason. :confused3

My mom uses an ECV down there. We used to never push the seat back down, but do now because of an incident that happened a few years ago. We were on a crowded bus sitting across from her ECV, when a man standing, decided to use her ECV for a seat. He didn't even ask, just sat down in the seat. My mom was polite but asked him to get off, telling him it wasn't safe and the bus driver himself had asked her to get off of it and take a seat when we first loaded. He got really rude and said if she wasn't using it, he was, because he was tired of standing on buses while people in ECVs took up seats. I finally spoke up and told him to get off the ECV or I'd be talking to the bus driver and who'd have security waiting for him when we go to the resort. Don't know if the driver would have actually called security, but the guy grudgingly got off the ECV. Ever since then we've made a point of putting the seat down. Don't know if it really helps, but no one else has tried to sit on it. They have leaned on it and have put their stuff on it though.:sad2:
