But can someone tell me if the fireworks at wdw are really loud? I feel silly saying this, but I'm kinda scared of fireworks. I had a bad experience with them when I was younger and they still freak me out a little. I'm usually ok, unless they are really REALLY loud. I guess I could always pack some ear plugs, but just need to know for sure.
TIA for anyhelp.

They aren't that loud, but then I spent a btter part of my youth with a guitar strapped around my neck while leaning into a stack of amplifiers loud enough to drown out a lawnmower standing right next to me.

I would say to be safe take ear plugs

They're not THAT loud.... and I wouldn't recommend earplugs unless absolutely neccesary, beacuse you'll want to hear the music. One of the genius things about Wishes and Illumniations is how well the fireworks are timed to match the musical soundtrack.

Bring earplugs just in case, but I wouldn't use them unless they're just unbearably loud.

Thanks for the info, both of you!

I forgot about the music! maybe that will help! I hope that will help! :Pinkbounc

Believe it or not, this has been discussed before!! It is a common concern!! My ds 19 cannot handle fireworks loud "booms" (he is hard of hearing) he went to a specialist when I couldnt understand his fear (of Chuck E cheese - turns out the balloons popping, and fireworks booms actually cause a "physical pain" something about nerve endings - - 1 year my nephew was babysitting, lots of kids, a firecracker thrown into a concrete "sewer" thingamajig, my DS 11 went down,my nephew thought my ds had been hit by firecracker, grabbed ds, ran screaming "CALL 911, CALL 911" luckily I had impressed upon my mom, and they determined the pain was internal, not external... and DS to this day avoids 4th of July activities, he is a camp counselor!!

So, it is real, and not weird in our family...

my son always, always, has those foam ear plugs, it helps deaden the pain!!

I always experience pain with the loudness of fireworks and some attractions. I keep a bunch of those foam ear plugs in the tiny zippered compartments of my fanny pack. It's easy to store them in there, easy to get to, and it feels discreet to put them in. For me, yes, the fireworks are too loud. Believe me, you will still hear everything, including the music,
just not as loud.

You might want to consider a fire works cruise for Wishes at the Magic Kingdom. You are on a boat on the lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom. It's awesome and the "booms" are destint from that vantage point. It's not the same as being right under the fire works, but I think its just as good

Shelly

PS - I've never taken one, but they do have an Illuminations cruise for Epcot as well. I'm not sure you would have the same benefits of distance though, because the boats park pretty close to where people can stand.

Thanks for all the help!

Shelly, we actually do have a wishes cruise booked since we are on an old dreammakere package, and it was included. So I guess I won't have to worry about that one!

everyone on these boards are great! Thanks for the help and for not making me feel silly for asking! :goodvibes
