Ok, this is really sad :(

Are you accusing these people of shilling? Believe me..that is something eBay takes very seriously. That's a pretty big accusation to make with no proof other than an item on eBay going for more money than WE think it's worth.

Looks to me like two new to eBay (or at least their buyers ID's are new) collectors just happen to like the item. I just had two bidders bid something of mine up higher than the the original Buy it now price I had on the item just yesterday. Gee, I hope I don't end up on these boards being accused of shilling. I just thought it was because one person liked it, and it made the other person want it..sort of like when one of you announces another trip to Disney..and I want to go too LOL..(oh, wait..that did just happen yesterday too, didn't it).

Wow, it was just my opinion and not only my opinion I might add.

It certainly does happen (whether or not ebay takes it seriously or not) and people get screwed on ebay all the time...as I'm typing this reply, my DH was just trying to leave negative feedback for someone on ebay who never sent something my DH paid for well over 4 weeks ago , and he just found out that ebay suspended the guy...so the money's lost. Now he's in the middle of trying to see if Paypal will get the money back...stuff like this happens alot more than people realize...anyway, it was my opinion based on what I saw in the bid history and based on what was being sold....take it or leave it but I am allowed to form my own opinion and state it.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but shilling is serious. I didn't see where anyone else had mentioned this person cheating the system..just that it looked strange. People have been in the news lately for shilling, and had some legal problems because of it. I guess I would never assume that someone was doing something that crooked without more proof..like if they had bid up other auctions of this person, or if they had only bid on this personls auctions.

I'm sorry your husband lost money, and of course stuff like this happens on eBay..but on a public board to say you think this person had friends jack up the price...gee, that's not an opinion, but an accusation IMO. It does make me wonder what gets said when I sell something for more than it's worth. Am I on a board somewhere being accused? It's an auction..I thought it was good to get an outrageous price. I'm sorry if you thought I was harsh on you, but I really think it's harsh to accuse someone not here to defend themsleves..and with no proof of wrong doing. Maybe the bidder will end up retracting, when the excitement is over..but that's not the sellers fault. The seller may be as stunned as us..she says she is selling out her MM collection..maybe she had no idea of it's worth.

eBay isn't always easy, I've had a couple of non payers and I've bought something that I didn't get. But eBay is a venue...all they do is provide us with a place to sell and buy things. They control what they can, but they can't make someone send you your item. You might have better luck, if you don't get a charge back from Paypal (which you will get if the person has no proof of sending it), filing a claim with the post office, provided the person is in the states. It could be mail fraud if they were suppose to mail something and didn't. I assume it's a US sale, since you have no recourse with Paypal if it's not.

What is this person thinking???????????????????????

Look at the bid history for this trashcan. The bidders are all newbies to Ebay and probably all kids. This is a bunch of kids pulling a fast one on this seller.

I would believe that more than shilling, although I still don't think so. Ytwine has been buying Mickey stuff for the past month..and hasn't been suspended yet for non payment.
mic11bowling has been bidding and winning steadily for the past two weeks (again lots of Mickey stuff) and just got two more feedbacks (positive) today. One item they bid on was a Mickey bathroom miror for $102 (not as good as the garbage can however LOL). I think there will be some real buyers remorse..unless, as I said earlier they know something about MM collectibles we don't know.

I absolutely agree, and if that's what it is, the parents should be made to pay the seller the final value fee.

This happened to us. When Pokemon was all the craze my son wanted to sell one of his Charzard cards. It ended up having a bidding war on it and got up to about $100. When I sent the winning bidder the winners notification the winner wrote back that they didn't know what I was talking about. After some investigation on her part it turned out that her son and his friend had bid on it with her and the friend's mom's screen names. So she ended up paying me for the card. She was very apologetic and nice about it. As a lesson to her son she donated the card to charity. She said that he knew her password but she didn't think he would ever use it. Surprise, surprise! LOL! :p

I recently saw someone selling their Priority Seating Reservations for Cinderellas Castle! It went for like $122 and that is just the reservation. I thought I had read that you cant change names or someone else cant use it so I reported it to ebay but they didnt do anything about it..also this person I hope realized that they still have to pay for the food!

That was discussed ad nauseum in the restaraunt thread, when the gal tried to resell it. Several diser's decided to send and encourage others to send the gal nasty letters, rather than go through eBay like you did. I believe she is now on this board..someone wrote and told me they invited her over here to read the thread...although I feel bad for the impression she prob got of us when she did read the names she was called on the thread. It looks like if she has come over here, that she has decided to not try and defend herself. I guess she figured she didn't do anything wrong according to eBay, so what was the point. For what it's worth, although I would not feel right selling such a thing, I would defend her right to sell what eBay says she can. People have sold much wierder things IMO and as eBay is really just a venue, it's really buyer beware on eBay. This gal was new to eBay, had bought the item on eBay and figured she could resell it on eBay.

Congratulations to you for going through eBay..when you see an auction you don't think is right, the best thing to do is report it rather than harrass the person. By the way, someone also reported it to Disney, so hopefully in the future this type of thing won't be allowed.
