target did not impress me at all.. candy still 30%. hardly any lights at all. wrapping paper 50% off. I will wait till it goes cheeper. I have better luck at walgreens when it goes 90% off..I can wait..

I watched the workers pull the individual Christmas cards (not the boxed cards) and throw them into a garbage bag! Not only that, I watched as the garabage bag was full he pressed down to compress the bag. So you know those cards were not going to be sold.
All of the Christmas candy was gone as was the bath/gift sets. All of the holiday cookies were gone.
This is standard practice regarding the cards. In nearly every store the greeting cards are stocked by the greeting card companies themselves (Hallmark, American Greetings, etc). The merchandisers contracts/instructions require they get to the store within two days of a holiday and switch the cards. In order to comply with their employer's guidelines they must destroy all of the unsold holiday cards. If they don't destroy them they risk losing their jobs. The stores want the shelves cleared for new merchandise and the greeting card companies don't make enough to make it worth selling at a loss - they'd rather put in something they can sell at full price.
I have been hired as a merchandiser (although I turned the job down) for a greeting card comany, my sister did this work for another company for nearly four years and I've known others who worked for various greeting card companies. This rule seems to apply across the industry.

Went to Target, got 3 rolls of Reynolds wrap, 3 rolls of Glad press n seal, 3 boxes of Ziploc freezer bags, Puffs tissues, softsoap and Bounty papertowels. They were all half off because of Holiday designs....no gift bags at all in the store, very little holiday candy, limited gift wrap.
KKB- where are you from. You sound just like my sister in Omaha![]()
