It is Dec 26. What deals are out there today? I wonder what stuff is on clearance at Target now. Anyone know? I feel the need to get some deals!

Certainly not at Walmart.
Just got back from going to two different ones and the only thing still on the shelves were wrapping paper, trim a tree stuff.
I watched the workers pull the individual Christmas cards (not the boxed cards) and throw them into a garbage bag! Not only that, I watched as the garabage bag was full he pressed down to compress the bag. So you know those cards were not going to be sold.
All of the Christmas candy was gone as was the bath/gift sets. All of the holiday cookies were gone.

Went to Target this am-- (opened at 7). There was only a few rolls of paper left but a goodly portion of cards, some trim a tree, a few artificial trees and about a 1/2 aisle of little foodie items. No tags, limited ornaments but quite a few stockings.

The few LED lights were only 30% off. The only non leds were 50% and the the 2 lighting structures were 50%

Party items-- paperplates, napkins, tableclothes were 50%. Cloth tableclothes and tableware was 50%.

I did find the Bounty towel and Klennex tissues unmarked and comingled with the other items.

I did notice that Target was pretty cautious about buying the seasonal items so there really wasn't much left to begin with.

target did not impress me at all.. candy still 30%. hardly any lights at all. wrapping paper 50% off. I will wait till it goes cheeper. I have better luck at walgreens when it goes 90% off..I can wait..

We had good luck at the grocery store. It has been snowing for 48 hours and we really can't get around town very well. My husband had to get a few groceries and came back with some Christmas candy and 2 big rolls of wrapping paper.

I felt the same way about Target after Halloween. I might slide by there when they hit 90%, just to browse but I don't have high hopes. I am waiting for Walgreens 90% sale too. :)

We haven't even been able to work in Xmas at the Grandma's! A foot of snow on top of a foot from 2 wks ago...
DH managed to snowblow drive and half the sidewalk. We are on a corner of a circle & he said no one is getting in or out of our circle---MAYBE 4WD.
We were supposed to go to Mom's in town today & head to DH's Mom's OT tomorrow...oh, well, maybe next weekend?? (my bro had 2 SUVs & said they would pick us up...we shall see...)
GETTING A LITTLE STIR CRAZY HERE!!!!!
(May have to send the kids out to walk to the Walgreens 3 blocks away...we are out of milk! LOVE their after holiday sales!)

This is standard practice regarding the cards. In nearly every store the greeting cards are stocked by the greeting card companies themselves (Hallmark, American Greetings, etc). The merchandisers contracts/instructions require they get to the store within two days of a holiday and switch the cards. In order to comply with their employer's guidelines they must destroy all of the unsold holiday cards. If they don't destroy them they risk losing their jobs. The stores want the shelves cleared for new merchandise and the greeting card companies don't make enough to make it worth selling at a loss - they'd rather put in something they can sell at full price.

I have been hired as a merchandiser (although I turned the job down) for a greeting card comany, my sister did this work for another company for nearly four years and I've known others who worked for various greeting card companies. This rule seems to apply across the industry.

I didn't know that! It looks like they could send them as a write off to shut ins (to use for another date). Such a waste! :(

I feel like I just stole my daughters summer wardrobe from Gymboree. They had bins of 3.99 and 6.99 and then I had a 20% off coupon. PLUS I earned gymbucks!

Went to Walgreens and got some cheap window clings.

Hit CJ Banks online and got jeans for 19.99 a pair (normally 45.50) Then when you spend 80.00 you get 20.00 off and free shipping.

went to JCPenny for my son's jeans ...he is in his middle of the year growth spurt.

I feel good about my shopping

Went to Target, got 3 rolls of Reynolds wrap, 3 rolls of Glad press n seal, 3 boxes of Ziploc freezer bags, Puffs tissues, softsoap and Bounty papertowels. They were all half off because of Holiday designs....no gift bags at all in the store, very little holiday candy, limited gift wrap.

Most of our city is snowed in (and the smart ones, not us, are not on the roads), so Target and Wal-Mart were empty today. Got some great deals!!

Holiday trash bags for $1.50, foil for about a buck, tissues for $1.99 and some Christmas odds and ends. We have so much gift wrap and bags that I don't buy that 'til 75 or 90%. Everything at Target was 50% off here.

Bought a ton of $1 four pack rubbermaid-type glittery containers, $2 plush blankets, $4.50 Madagascar blankets, a few goodies.

Tons left at both stores.

There were no gift bags at my Target either and that was on the top of my list.

I did get the Pot of Gold boxes of candy for the kids' teachers for Valentine's day.

When does Walgreens typically go 90% off? I am waiting for that too, specifically for wrapping goods for next Xmas. I forgot last year and spend a small fortune on wrapping paper this year. Never again.

Our Target hads tons of stuff, one lady in front of me bought 10 packs of holiday Bounty napkins! I don't use holiday napkins unless it's the holiday, but she must. 50% isn't enough of a savings to store all that either. I got some gift bags and throws, make up kits, etc. Walmart had a lot more than Target, they even had the single Christmas cards for 50% which I didn't think they have done in the past.

I am offended they could not recycle or donate these to missions or such.
SHAME on them!
