on great places to eat. Will only be there for one night on the way up to Ellsworth, Maine. Thanks DISers! It was the most economical place to stay on the NH coast and it has some cool stuff like a petting zoo and miniature cars. I never woud have found it without my DIS friends!

Hi!
Just got back from a day trip to Oqunquit ME.
On the way up stopped at the Tourist Info Center north of Kittery ( outlet row). The State Park Rep told me that the local News out of Portland ME was that the Dollars are down and tourists are not spending, therefore deals are opening up north of your NH stop. .
I suggest looking at a map of the Maine area, just over the border of NH , north of Portsmouth, NH which is getting pricey, and go to any website of the National Chain of Hotels you frequent that have something nearer Portland.
Portland is has a quiet history and different city character than other New England Citys.
By the way, Buy your Spirits. OK!, in NH at the State Liquoor store on RTE95 north of Mass. NO SALES TAX in NH, ME has TAX ON EVERYTHING!
Plus if you buy the Powerball tixs in NH on the way to Maine, collect your winnings on the way back through NH at the south bound rest area which has another State liqour Store or pickup the refreshment for when you finally get home.

Brown's Seabrook Lobster Pound. It is way on the top of the list of "things about NH that I miss now that I live in CA" You won't regret it. It's not a fancy restaurant, but there is NOTHING more New England than "Lobsta and steamas." Brown's is the best. Have fun.

The Best Western in SeaBrook also has a trolley to Hampton Beach -took us over an hr to get there, about 1/2hr to get back because of the other stops.
The hotel has a waterslide which drops into a seperate pool. The main pool has a kids frog slide. There's also a baby pool. Poolside snack shack. There is a pond behind one of the bldgs where DS likes to catch frogs and turtles.
Moon walks, pony rides, petting zoo, mini power bikes, mini ferris wheels, train ride
Continental brkfst runs from 6-10:30am

There is an AppleBees, Pub 99, Master McGrath's is across the road from the Best Western. Galley Hatch is on Rte 1. Purple Urchin and McGuirk's on Hampton Beach.

Have a good trip! We leave for the Best Western this Thurs!
