:guilty: Well I decided to try RCL since I was not taking DD on this trip and I must say the the "Enchantment of the Sea" did not hold a candle to the Wonder....Everyone wants to say it is because it is an older ship, but not that much older???
I just think the Disney ships are nicer ships.

I know that the Enchantment is about to go to dry dock and get updated and so that is good. I guess since it was RCL I just expected it to be fancier, but it was not!
I did have a wonderful time despite the rough seas(Not RCL fault) last week.

I just know each time I lay my eyes on the Disney ships they take my breath away.... :cloud9: When I saw the RCL ship it did not do that for me. No one anounced us when we boarded...LOL Guess I am just spoiled by DCL. :cloud9:

I did not even think the food was as good. Dinner was nice, but I did not enjoy the buffets as much as Disney and I missed being able to get ice-cream anytime we wanted. Drinks were also much higher. We had an ocean view deluxe room and it has no split bathroom or fridge and I tell ya I did not pay that much less for this cruise versus my 4 day Disney cruise.

If I try RCL again I will go for a newer ship, but for now I am sticking with DCL ecspecially if I take DD princess: . Not many kids at all on our sailing.

I had mentioned a few things on the Cruise critic board and boy did I get some peoples feathers ruffled. They say If I pay double on Disney than it should be better service, but I tried to tell them that DCL can be reasonable in the off season when I sail.. I give up and am glad to be back on the DIS boards...
Also looking forward to our sailing on the MAGIC on October 15..........

Thanks for listening guys!

Michelle :boat:

Were you posting on the RCCL board on Cruise Critic? No, you wouldn't get any good feedback then.

But I know what you're talking about. We cruised Celebrity in between our two DCL cruises, and it was AWFUL. I wouldn't post that on the Celebrity board, but I didn't mind posting it here!

Glad to hear that! When we docked back in Port Canaveral on our recent cruise the RC Mariner of the Seas was also docked there and my husband was talking about how nice it was. Already having heard storied about Carnival, I knew that if we ever did take another cruise besides DCL, it would have to be RC, but now I'm glad that you settled that for me...now I don't have to worry about not being able to cruise DCL!! :earboy2:

I'm joining in on this one.

There will probably be someone out there who will say that our family and I are limiting ourselves by not sailing other cruise lines (actually, our 1st Carnival Cruise is in March), but after our first DCL, I knew that no other ship will have the same 'magic.' We're booked on Carnival Glory because we couldn't get as good of a rate on Disney (2000.00 more actually). We waited to long to rebook, and it's during spring break. I'll post a report when we return. There's no split bathroom, (I'm already aware), and no 'Disney horn' :(

They say that the newer RCL ships are really nice...I just think if your partial to all DCL special touces nothing will live up to that?????
I am not saying that we did not enjoy ourselves because we had a great time.
I just like DCL better and am glad I am booked for October.

I have never tried Carnival, but 3 of their ships were in port at Cozumel on Sat with us and they are so pretty at night!! Love the lights strung across the ship.

:cool1: :cool1:

DCL is addicting!!!!

I too have thought about cruising on other lines. :guilty:

I have looked at soooooo many ships/itineraries/deck plans etc.

But some of the things that we have enjoyed the most, I'm not sure can truly be offered the same.

ie. The pools-Most have salt water.
The adult areas-I know others have these, but I've heard many say
that this is not enforced.
The service-enough said....
The dining rotation
DS-14 can not wait to go back!!!

I could go on and on why we decided to do another DCL.

Will I ever be cured??????

I'll throw in here :) This is my very first cruise coming up. I have never ever looked at cruising as something I really wanted to do. Until I saw the travel shows featuring the Disney Line. For some reason it just appealed to me! Maybe because they remind me of the liners of old...maybe because they don't seem to show that party and drinking atmosphere a lot of lines promoted. From that day I always said if I did cruise it would be Disney. Well here years later...I'm going !

Ah, but Disney doesn't cruise to Alaska! (yet) We had a wonderful time on the Serenade of the Seas.

We had a RCCL reservation for Easter this year. Then the Florida Resident rates became available........ We booked on Disney in a flash.......... No comparrison in our minds........

I have to chime in for DCL as well. We cruised RC last spring break and it was nothing like DCL. I will have to say that the staff on RC was fabulous though, the best thing about the ship. On the last day on RC we were wandering around looking for something to do, this would never happen on DCL.

Sorry it was not everything you expected. We always have done DCL and none other. Going on number 4 in 05 and number 5 in 06. We plan on trying to do a family reunion kind of thing summer 06 on Freedom of the Seas or alaska in 06 on princess or RCL. Hoping our cruise on another line besides disney will be good. I just talked to friend who went on carnival and said it was horrible. I will always stay away from carnival.

Let me start by saying I am a loyal fan of RCI. I have sailed on the Monarch, Majesty, Voyager, and Splendour. I have also sailed on Carnival's Holiday. I have never had a bad cruise, some are just better than others. I am going on my first Disney cruise in September so I can't honestly compare yet but... I think I will have a hard time putting them both in the same class of cruising because they seem to be two different cruise expeirences. I have enjoyed everything on all my RCI cruises and will definatly continue to. This will be our first cruise with our kids, thus the reason we chose to do Disney. From everything I have seen and read, I think it is going to be a different expeirence than RCI but one I think I will enjoy just as much. Therefore, I am not sure I will be able to say which one is better.
As far as trying the newer ships, my favorite cruise so far has been on the Voyager. The rooms don't have split bathrooms but the shower has a door instead of the clingy curtains which is a plus, IMO. The rooms also have a small sofa and table area. And the royal promanade is one of the best features. The other being the Solarium (adult pool), which the no kids rule was strictly enforced on my sailing. So if you choose to try RCI again, may I suggest a Voyager class ship. I think it would be more to your liking. I am really looking forward to my first DCL cruise.<center><font face="verdana,arial,sans-serif" size="1" color="black">'til we leave for Disney Magic</font><br /><a href="http://daisyPath.com"><img src="http://daisyPath.com/ani/050916/4/4/-6/0" alt="Daisypath Ticker" border="0" /></a></center>

I am an avid DCL fan, my first THREE cruises were with them. Then we (our pockets) decided to try some of the other lines out there. We have so far tried Carnival, Norwegian & RCCL. We had an AWESOME time EVERYTIME!! But not one of them is DCL!!

Added on to the fact that it is "disney" I think is the fact that it was our "first" and will always be that much more special to us. As great a time as we have had on each cruise, everytime it leaves us feeling that we need to go on DCL!!

Our most recent cruise was on the Voyager of the Seas & it was the first time we thought of returning to a non Disney cruise line!! We really had a great time & our kids are little (6 & 2). We are not party people and we weren't TOO into the shows on the Voyager, but we were just in awe of the ship itself & always found something new to do. A very good time was had by all!!

But for now we are busy planning for our TWO WEEKS on the Magic in August !! And I couldn't be happier!!

My problem with repeat cruising on DCL over and over is that they travel the same routes, and have the same shows. For all that $$, don't you all get tired of visiting the same ports and seeing the same shows.? There are so many places to see in the Caribbean.

I've seen alot of posts from people who have done the Voyager RCL and they compare to DCL. They also have a southern Caribbean route out of Puerto Rico that looks great.

We have cruised DCL 3 times and then did our first RCCL (mariner of the seas) this past summer. We had a great time and enjoyed it more than DCL. Our boys are now older teens so the Mariner had more for them to do and more night life for us adults. DCL was fine for us when we first started cruising but it was getting boring for us after a while. I also saved 2000. by cruising w/ RCI and we are a family of 5 so it gets quite expensive...travelling from West Coast too! Anyway, the Voyager class ships are wonderful and I think many of you would be quite pleased w/ what they have to offer.

I have sailed on RCCL, Celebrity, NCL, Costa and DCL. I can honestly say that I loved Celebrity and really enjoyed the Voyager on RCCL (their ships in Alaska are smaller and not as good). For teens the Voyager class ships are really fun, rock climbing, rollerblading, iceskating, etc. I sailed on a four night DCL cruise that was changed to a three night (hurricane) and it was fun. THe food is better on Celebrity in my opinion. The kids clubs were more active on RCCL for the five year old group, but both DCL and RCCL were good. My daughter liked RCCL better. The suites on Celebrity are amazing and offer more individual service for a signifigant amount less than suites on DCL.
It is all a matter of what each family feels is important, but when I priced cruises on DCL and RCCL this summer I found I could book a seven night on the Mariner for what a four night on the Wonder would cost. As Florida residents we will wait for some better pricing on DCL.
We are trying Crystal next.
