OK...So here's a interesting question....

Disney needs time to work on improving FP+, therefore I'll come back...

  • Some time in 2015

  • 2-5 years from now

  • 5-10 years from now

  • When DisBoard members become more positive about FP+

  • When you can have more than 3 FPs and no tiers

  • Whenever I feel I can no longer stay away (I'm a junkie so this could be next month)

  • When Disney gets rid of FP+ (no matter how long it takes)

  • Whenever US / IOA becomes boring to me.

After about 38 trips in the past 22 years (not sure of the exact number of trips, I might have left a few out) we will be spending our vacation dollars elsewhere for quite some time. I was there in Oct. 2013 and Feb 2014 and it just ain't what it used to be. It's not just FP+ but I guess you could look at that as the straw that broke the camels back.

I feel sorry for people who are fairly new to WDW. They'll never know how great it used to be.

I completely agree. My heart breaks a little bit every year as I see more and more of what I love about Disney fall away. And ticket prices rise... to the point where we're about priced out of a Disney vacation. :(

We were there in November and we loved the magic bands and fast pass plus, but we booked our fast passes before the the tiered fast passes went into effect. I have to say that part will be a pain in the future and I hope they make the decision to reverse that. We came across many people in Epcot who were complaining about the tiered fast passes. Ours were set, but had I made a change they would have tiered too.

I'm torn now though because I'm planning to take my grandson and my oldest daughter on our next trip and I really need space for 10 people. This may price me out of a Disney resort and into off site at. Bonnet Creek. That's where my concern for the fast pass plus comes in. I refuse to stand in those long lines at the kiosk. I had much rather prebook. I'm on the fence about what to do in the future when I take a large group.

Honestly, there was so much wrong besides just FP+ on our trip the first week of March that it will probably be several years before we consider going again. Between the dirty parks, lack of new attractions, and unhappy CM's along with long waits in line, it felt like a huge waste of money.

The difference between our time at Universal and at WDW was night and day. We last visited each in May of 2013. Since that visit, Universal opened Despicable Me, Transformers, upgraded Springfield, and is making great progress on Diagon Alley. Disney opened several character greeting areas, a restaurant, bathrooms, and they're still working on the Mine Ride--just in MK and not really ANYTHING new in the other parks. And they have the fiasco that is FP+. Since we stayed at Shades of Green, we had the great joy of messing with kiosks in the morning and our park hoppers were a complete waste.

Frankly, Disney has ticked me off. They won't be getting any more of my vacation dollars any time soon.

I enjoy the sentiment of this question, and I'm glad to have the answers. Even if a lot of the people posting aren't those who are saying they won't return to Disney for a while.

As you can see from my signature, I'm one of those who won't return for a while.

I started my obsession late, but even before my first trip I had decided to take my twins annually until they are about 13. In general theme park vacationing isn't how I travel, but ooooooh did I live Disney.

This past year we made it just under the bar and could use legacy FP and try out FP+. It was fine, but I could see some cracks in the veneer, and already I could sense a difference in how I felt after this trip.

I will give them 3-5 years or so to work this out. I'll be spending my vacation line item in other places this year, hitting both the Atlantic ocean and Pacific ocean at different times of the year.

Even if no concrete changes are made over that time period, it will give all of the CM and many of the guests a chance to learn and master the new system. Hopefully that will change the vibe back to the magic I felt the first visit.

I chose 2-5 years but really who knows? I'm interested in doing other things right now and that makes a difference too.

As for the question "For those of us saying, "I've decided NOT to go back to WDW until the issues with Fast Pass+ are worked out / correct" ... what exactly is your time line?", how can that be any more clear? I don't understand the confusion.

Honestly- I didn't see that part. I saw the post title "interesting question" and I saw the "We all know FP+ has some kinks to work out, so when will you be going back?" question in the poll . I voted posted my own replyand then scrolled down to see the comments THEN I saw that I wasn't supposed to vote cause we WILL be going back.

So, to me the confusion lies in the question and not enough info in the title.

We're just going to DL again instead. :rolleyes1 We'll give it a few years and see what changes.

Last few trips just havent felt the same:sad1:
whether it is we are Disney'd out, the kids are getting older , or all the changes that are occurring we just know we loss some magic

Not totally going without a little Disney but giving ourselves a break to see where things go.

This year 2014 we are only doing AP's for the waterparks and Disneyquest and also doing Legoland that our DS really wants to go to.

Depending, this may be our same plan for next spring 2015 before the passes expire.

Yeah, no. The confusion lies in you not reading the OP, and the big bolded words in the first sentence, before posting your response.

Getting back to the OP, I didn't vote. There always needs to be an "other" option. I have no set time frame in mind. I'll go back when Disney has ironed out all the wrinkles. When MDE is a reliable and glitch free system that can be consistently relied upon. When reservations don't suddenly disappear and then reappear, or spontaneously change all by themselves. When I can use the app consistently while in the parks. When I can see from guest reports that lines are not being adversely affected by FP+. THEN I'll be happy to return. Whenever that might be- next year 10 years from now.

In the meantime we have a nice long travel bucket list that we can start whittling away at.

For the record...

I vote 2-5 years (I just know I couldn't stay away from Disney longer than 5 years) but I wanted to vote "when US/IOA starts to bore me."

Universal has my attention right now. To me Universal has the best product in Florida and their vision seems to be right. I'm willing to wait on Disney.

I will go back whenever I believe the value returns. I hope it is sooner than later.

Like another poster mentioned you need "other" or an "I don't live and die by FP+":)

I visited DW in January and am going this Thursday for a long weekend.

I like using Magic Bands, I'm not intimidated by the current 3 per day in one park limitations (though I hope they rethink the tiering and 3 FP limit) and still enjoy the ambiance of all the parks. The new system doesn't work for every touring style--especially those who used FP- with great frequency but it works for me:goodvibes

Our last trip was in 2010. We were going to plan a trip for 2013. That got pushed to 2014 when the whole FLE/7DMT fiasco took place, then 2015 when the whole MB/MDX/FP+ test started, and now is on indefinite hold until the smoke and rubble clears. 2 - 5 years sounds like a good time to wait, but I reserve the right to postpone even longer if they still don't have it right.

I do that. I always assume that I'm too impatient and miss half the question. :lmao:

We're FL residents and live only an hour away so Disney is relatively inexpensive for us compared to others. We renewed our annual passes earlier this year (we already had trips planned throughout the year with family). If FP+ stays with the restrictive limits of 3 and no park hopping, we will not be renewing our passes, after 5 years.

I never thought I'd be in that category, but with so many experiences with FP+ already I'm still not able to find a way to make it work best for our family. If we lived out of state, I would definitely be canceling future vacations. IMHO Disney is too expensive and not worth the money at the state it's in now, unfortunately.

We'll go back when time and budget permit, FP+ or no.

Well, I wish that Disney would realize they're cutting off their nose to spite their face. Making the parks into a feedlot, packing as many people into it as possible, really diminishes the appeal for me. And of course the marketing push and ever-present advertising means all the first timers are still flocking in, which is fine, but the same tactics are getting the less informed folks in also and it creates a huge cluster of ick.

I get it. They need to make money.

What this does is take away exactly the commodity that Disney has had a virtual lock on for decades...the MAGIC.

Making it about the money sucks the magic completely away.

The little things that were so special...Excalibur...the key under the mat...the wishing well...waking up Tinkerbell...CM's that had whimsy...unexpected character meetings...It's all gone. And never coming back.

When they took Eeyore away from the character spot at AK, they broke my heart. I was already grieving the loss of Figzilla. Now having to stand in a line for hours for a ten second character interaction that's solely about smiling for a camera in order to sell a photograph...How is that worth it?

I'm headed down for a brief visit next week for the tag end of my AP (expires in June) and my family has already decided not to renew for this next cycle. We're going to our island for spring break next year instead of WDW. My son's an older teen now, and it may actually be a few years before we're inclined to go back. We are DVC owners and can let the points stack up for a while, but it's actually likely that we'll use those in a way other than a park visit.

Sad, sad that Disney's changes are so disturbing. Any change is hard to adjust to...this one just seems almost impossible to adapt.

I don't have a timeline. We have been to WDW once a year for the last 7 years (one year we went twice). We have been and tried MDE/FP+ last fall and we hated it. We definitely felt like we got less done, had more hassle, and that it took some of the fun out of our trip, although it is Disney and we did still have a great time- just not as great a time as usual. There was way too much being tied to a phone with a glitchy app and time wasting and having to criss-cross the park by FP+. You have to book 60 days out to FP+ attractions you don't even know will have lines that will need FP+ on the day you are there at the time you want to ride, and also when you don't know what part of the park you will be in at the time your FP+ kicks in (we know our schedule pretty well, and we had trouble and had a lot of criss-crossing- I can't imagine what it is like for newbies). Changing a FP+ to something you do need was about impossible on the glitchy app when we were there, and I imagine now that FP+ has opened up to eveyone, it is pretty much impossible whether or not the app glitches.

We usually take 2 Disney trips a year, one to WDW and one to DL. This is the first time I have not had anything booked for fall or the holiday season at WDW by this time in the last 7 years. If nothing about FP+ changes, we will probably stick to DL for a while. Assuming nothing about MDE/FP+ changes, which I am optimistic it will, we will probably return to WDW when we miss EPCOT WS enough that we are willing to deal with MDE/FP+ again just to get our EPCOT fix (The lure of riding the mine train once might also get me back, depending on what gets said about it when it is finished and operating. But-it would have to be on FP+, and if we could not get a FP+ for it when our 60 days arrived, then I would likely cancel the trip). When we are at DL, really EPCOT is the only thing we miss. Well that and the fact that for DL on-property resorts it usually costs us the same for 4 nights as it does to do WDW for 7 or 8 nights. I was thinking about going ahead and booking a WDW trip for late this year and getting ADRs in place, in case things change by then, and if not, then I would cancel the trip and we would either do a 2nd DL trip, or more likely do a non-Disney trip like maybe NYC. We are planning on skipping WDW this year if things don't change. We may very well skip next year too. Beyond that, I don't know if the EPCOT pull will be too much, or if we will get so used to trying other places, that it could be 4-5 years before we go back to WDW. I don't see us going more than 5 years without WDW- I don't think I've ever done more than that since I was 7 years old-but you never know.

:scared1: I'm already starting to crack since I posted this. Now, I am in a stage of "Well, I should at least book something for this fall or holiday season, so I can make ADRs and have them, just in case FP+ changes for the better by then, and then I will cancel if there is no improvement". :rotfl2::rotfl::scared1::rolleyes:

I had already determined that I would not be going back to Disney until 2015 last year. But this wasn't because of FP+ but because I wanted to wait a year for the crowd at Diagon Alley to die down a bit. The fact that it gives Disney a year to straighten things out with FP+ before I need to use it is just a perk. Though I wish I was planning a trip now. The wait is killing me.
