Hello everyone. I've recently made reservations at the POP and I can't wait till April gets here!:yay: I have some questions that keep hammering my brain, :headache: I've searched the net and even posted on the POP thread and have gotten no reply. :confused3 So I'm hoping someone out there has some information that can help me. :flower3: Thanks for reading, here goes:

First things first. How long does it take to get a confirmation email from Disney for your room reservation? It's going to be 5 days for me and still nothing. They gave me a confirmation number over the phone then later tried to connect me with dining when the call got dropped. I thought emails were instant?

Second question. I requested the 80's building and asked if it was possible to get a king size bed and a corner room, per suggestion by another poster. What I'm wondering is, if there's such a thing as a corner/king bed room at POP? Or are all the corner rooms in the 80's building just regular 2 beds?

Last one. I heard that, if you want to dine at another Disney resort, it's better to take your own vehicle. I've been told that the bus system doesn't work to well, going to and from different resorts. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

I know it's a lot of questions but thanks to anyone who took the time to help me out. :goodvibes

I can only help with the ADR/bus issue. We never, ever drive our own car at WDW. We just take a bus to the nearest park to the resort we're going to and switch there. You can also take a bus to DTD and transfer to another resort bus.

I've only stayed at POP for two nights, so I am not an "expert". :lmao: However, you should have received a confirmation email by now. I would call Disney back and tell them you haven't- they may have your email address wrong in their system. My name is always spelled wrong, even though I correct them every time I call. This time, they have my first name correct, but with my daughter's middle name as my middle name :confused3

I can't help you with the king bed/corner room issue.

You will not be able to take a bus from POP to another resort. Buses do not run from resort to resort. You would have to take a bus to one of the parks and then take a bus to the resort you are trying to reach. In this case, having a car does make it easier.

Thanks so much guys for the quick response. :goodvibes

I just got off the phone with Disney, so just in case anyone wanted to know, they said it's takes about 1 week to recieve the confirmation email.

2 questions down 1 to go :rotfl: Thanks again. :)

I have stayed at POP several times but can't help you with the king-bed question the only time that we had a king bed it was not a corner room. If we are going to another resort for dinner reservations I have found that it is easier and quicker to drive my own car....sometimes the bus transportation can be really slow and crowded. I do HATE to drive to Downtown Disney though - the parking there is terrible. Have a great trip!!!

I also cannot say whether any corner rooms in the 80's building have king size beds but you can request it. However that is a pretty specific request and the odds of getting it may be rather thin. The more specific a request the lower the odds are of having it happen.

Hi, we stayed in a corner room in the 80's building in August and it had 2 double beds. We were on the second floor, Room 9260. It was a great location. Not a far walk to the buses or food court.

We dined at the Poly and at Fort Wilderness (Trail's End) when we were there. To get to the the Poly we took the bus from POP to MK and then hopped on the monorail. To get Trails End we took the bus to MK and then the boat to FW. I gave us an hour leeway both times and arrived in planty of time.

As for the email, I booked online for August (@ POP) at got my email about a 1/2 hour later) As long as you have a confirmation number I wouldn't worry about it.

HTH

Just to let you know that room with king sized beds are the handicapped rooms with roll in showers, no tub.(there may be some with just handrails in the tubs too, not sure there) Not sure if they have corner rooms or not, we've never gotten one and it's not really a big deal. Just relax and have a great time. We haven't gotten a bad location yet and are going back in June.

If you are in a hurry to make an adr at another resort then take a cab. If not just leave yourself an hour to get there.

I found this map of POP room layout. It seemed generally correct when we were last there - but of course no guarantee. Things could have changed, too. May help you get a feel for the layout, though. From this it appears that you may be out of luck for a corner king. Good luck :wizard:

[Mods - hope is not a problem to post the website - couldn't find a rule on it.]

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help out a fellow DISer. I really appreciate it. :thumbsup2

A special thanks to you for your time and the awesome link! :goodvibes I've saved as one of my favorites. Thank you again. :flower3:

We've stayed at Pop 4x, each time requesting a King bed. We've been lucky twice, once a HA, and once a regular King bed room. Neither was on the corner. Even tho I''m a hot tub snob I love Pop.

I found the buses fine. We only had one time they weren't and it was on Mon the 14th for MK. We were going to GF for breakfast at 10:30, and got to the bus stop at 9:30. There was this HUGE line of people - probably enough to fill 3 buses. I wasn't expecting that. If I had just been going to the park I would have waited it out, as I am sure some were being dispatched. We waited until 9:40 and only one bus had come, and we were way at the end of the line. We decided to grab a cab. It cost $15 plus tip, and it was a nice quiet, quick ride.
I think if you drive, you are still going to be dealing with lines at the trams that take you to the entrance, or at the T&T Center to get on the ferry or monorail. Not much difference if you ask me.

We received our email the day we booked, you may want to make sure they have the correct email.

As for the bus service, when we stayed at Pop we had no problems whatsoever. We had breakfast one morning at Ohana (earliest seating) and all we did was take the bus to MK and then take the monorail over to the Poly. It didnt take very long.

I dont know about the 80s section, we stayed in the 50s and loved it.

I just checked my email again and still nothing. :confused3 I know they have my correct address because they repeated it to me. Guess there's nothing to do but wait. :surfweb: I'm used to it, I'm still waiting for an April code! :thumbsup2

So if I do take the buses for my ADRs, should I leave an hour before they start? I always thought it was easier going by car?

I'm also starting to think there's no such thing as a king bed/corner room at POP. You either get one or the other. If anyone knows different, please post :flower3: the CM on the phone didn't know either. :confused3

What makes a corner room so special, out of curiosity?

I've had a King bed at Pop before, and the room was not HA. I would have hated not having a tub!

We also never drive our car anywhere at Disney-- we take buses even if we're going from resort to resort. The trick is to just take whatever bus shows up at Pop first, and then you never have a long wait! So, if it's the Studios bus, hop on it and transfer at the Studios, etc.

I had a king bed in the 60's my last trip it was HA and I loved the bathroom! It was so big! When I transferred to CSR I missed it. As for the corner rooms I do not think Pop has any, I think they are all in the moderates I had one at Por and it was nice with the extra window!

With respect to getting to/fro other resorts for meals at resort restaurants, we try to book meals like that for breakfast or dinner, then we plan on going to (for breakfast) or coming from (for dinner) a park, and then we take a mears taxi for the other leg. That is probably not clear - for breakfast we might take a cab to another resort for an early breakfast, then go straight to a park afterward; and for dinner we would go from a park, to that resort, then take a taxi back to our home resort. It saves a lot of time, and is cheaper than renting a car.

Good luck, and have a blast!

I've heard (from many, many, posters) that the walls in POP are rather thin. I've also heard that having a top floor corner room diminishes that dramatically. Any noise wakes me up :headache: so I'm just trying to increase my odds on having a quieter room, that's all. Oh, and I don't mind not having a tub, it's not a big deal for me or my gf. :)

Thanks for the tip on taking the busses, I do keep hearing that one a lot. Which makes me wonder how filled they must be all the time. Anyone know how the bus situation is in late April? :confused3

I read on another thread that the POP does have corner rooms. I also requested one and the CM didn't correct me so I hope that it is true. Thanks for the tip though. :)
