Ok...once and for all!!!!

I'm SO sorry if this topic has been driven into the ground, but after multiple google searches and other useless searches, I need to know!!

What language is spoken on rides at DLP?!? When I pull up a google search, it gives me at least 5 different ideas of how English and French fit into the whole DLP attractions. I would love if someone would please just set me straight. And just to be clear I'm talking about the actual attractions, not the queue, not the CM's.

both. Some are only in French - I believe Phantom Manor and Pinocchio, others are in French and English. Lion King has shows in both languages.

I really don't notice since I speak both almost fluently

Star Tours from memory is only in French.
Stunt show in the Studios has a mixture of both Frencha and English
We are not fluent French speakers but still enjoy all the attractions

I expect to hear French when I'm in France, so it doesn't worry/bother me that rides may be in French, I think that's kinda cool and part of the adventure.

Dining is another ballgame though, I hope the menus are in English and I can communicate properly with our servers.

Menus at sit down restaurants are offered in a variety of languages: French; English; Dutch and German are usually on one; and a few other languages. In fact, last week I was chatting to our seater in German and asked her to give us English menus as my companion was from America. When kathleena asked 'did you get me an English menu' our seater said to her dryly, 'no, we got a russian one for you'

I agree with you totally on this Cass, but like you I also prefer to know exactly what I am eating

Cyrano and Bavaria you are not right. Phantom Manor and Star Tours have also some English parts.
In Star Tours the robot who is your driver only speaks French but all others speak English.
And in Phantom Manor Madame Leyotta speaks French and English and when you "leave the house" during the ride some of the habitants speak English, for example the "singing heads" and the mayor. "We have 999 happy ghosts here..."

Honey I Shrunk the Audience is sometimes shown in French and sometimes in English. There are headphones you can wear, with the soundtrack of your chosen language, but it doesn't make for quite such a good experience. I think they change over on different days, rather than between different shows during the day - though I may be quite wrong about that!

Here' what I remember.... It's a small world is sung in many different languages as far as I could tell (it's hard to make them out). Space Mountain has a video recording to introduce you to the ride and give health warnings while you wait in line. It is alternating in French and English (also with alternating subtitles in the appropriate language). The storybooks on display in Sleeping Beaty's Castle are all in French. I want to say the Pinocchio and Peter Pan had some character dialog that was only in English, but I don't recall very clearly. Every menu I saw was in both French and English.

I speak very little French (although the French may say I'm giving myself too much credit) and really had no problem at all anywhere in the park. Probably the biggest "problem" I had was figuring out what some of the attractions actaully were by looking at the title. "Le Pays des Contes de Fees?!?" I believe there was one problem with an order at a restaraunt that was caused by a language misunderstanding, but to happen just once in a 4-day trip is pretty good, I think.

I just remembered a few more that might be worth mentioning.... The "Once Upon a Dream" parade we saw was sung completely in English, I believe. While waiting in line at the Main Street Station for the Disneyland Railroad, we heard humorous "warnings" about bandits and such - all in English. And the four speaking characters we met, Ariel and Jasmine plus their princes, spoke English very well (probably along with a few other languages).

No matter what, don't fret about it. You don't need to understand the language to have a blast.

The Snow White we met was from Yorkshire!!

Can't say I noticed the language as a problem (although I do understand most French) except in the Studio animation where it was in French with headphones for English but the French was so loud you couldn't hear the translation and we all came out with banging headaches.

yes, Marcus you are correct re the few bits on English in Phantom Manor! but for those who have not seen the American versions and do not speak French, the stretch room is not much to figure out from the pictures

I've never done Star Tours in DLRP so can't comment

Animagique has MIckey speak in French and Donald in English and splits the songs into both these languages too. I think it works really well.

On the backlot tour you have to be sure to get in the English/French carriages, because some of them are Spanish/German (Italian?) if I remember correctly.

On Phantom Manor, whilst you can enjoy the attraction very well, I do sometimes wish that the stretch room spiel was in English occasionally so that DS could understand more than anything. I always frantically translate in a whisper "there are no windows and no doors.........!"

PotC has French & English bits - you can hear them saying "We wants the Redhead"

It's quite hard to remember exactly which language is on each attraction - which shows how much fun the attractions are anyway without worrying about languages, I think they do a fantastic job at DLP.

Nowadays (I think since 2006) it is only in English and French. No German or other languages anymore.
But on the other hand; this makes the queuing easier.
