OK now I'm confused

I just got off the phone with MS and I am confused...So I was hoping those of you with 2 UY's and transfer experiences can clarify this for me

I have 2 contracts. I plan on every year taking advantage of the once a year transfer and transferring all my points from my Dec contract to my February Contract.

I have 75pts in my December UY. I have 200pts in a February UY. BOTH are at SSR

MS told me I have until Dec 1st to transfer my points from my Dec to Feb account AND STILL be able to bank them??

This doesn't sound right..WHY do I have to only until July to bank my Dec UY points BUT if I transfer them I have until Dec?? That doesn't sound right??

The MS CM was very nice, but had to put me on hold inorder to try to answer my question so I'm not sure she understands either

I have no idea.

I do know that having different UY's is a pain in the rear. I have NEVER had a transfer process correctly. After spending several days working with MS and their managers to correct our account after our last transfer, we have decided to never transfer again.

yes they did a good .. here is the rule from the disney site :
"All Transferred Home Resort Vacation Points retain the Use Year of the transferring Club Member and expire at the end of the transferring Club Member's Use Year, unless they are Banked. "
So you would still need them to be banked by July.

Not clear on what yu were told. You can transfer points and bank those points if both transfer and banking are done by the end of eighth month of use year of contract from which the points were transfered, meaning you would have to do so by end of July for December into other Feb contract. Nevertheless, you can transfer points (but not then bank them) up to the last day of your use year (as long the recipient can actually use them -- if transferred on last day it will be near impossible to get a reservation for that last night in the use year by which time the points have to be used)

Many have reported that MS has been allowing transferred points to be banked even beyond their original banking deadline - so, in this case, you would be allowed to transfer points from your Dec. 2009 Use Year as late as November 30, 2010 into your February, contract and still be allowed to bank them (as long as it is prior to December 1, 2010 when they expire).

In most cases, I would still not mess with a transfer since it is pretty easy to make reservations using both contracts and them link them together into a seamless stay. If you were needing them for a cruise or ABD reservation, then a transfer would likely be necessary, but for regular DVC reservations it's pretty easy to do so from 2 different Use Years.

DVC has thus far interpretted the banking rules as not applying to transferred points and thus giving you up untilt he last day of the UY of the transferred points to bank them. I don't recall anyone being told otherwise but given how inconsistent DVC is, I'm sure they have.
