HA HA... made you look!!!! I hope I can post this on the DIS :rolleyes1 .

Has anyone done a budoir photograph? I have been thinking about it for awhile and I think I'm ready to take the plunge for DH's birthday, which gives me a few months to lose some weight and get in ok shape. I'm trying to get my friend to do one for her husband so I don't feel so awkward. She will come with me even if she doesn't do it just for safety reasons.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has done it, what can I expect :worried: . Is it really, really awkward

You knew I'd look...:teeth:

My wife asked me once if I wanted something like that and to be honest I don't. I think it's more for a lady's pride to showcase herself and should not be presented as a 'gift' to a significant other.

Just ask yourself if you'd want a risque pic of your hubby for your b-day?

Sorry Herc but I disagree, I asked Dh what he wanted for Bday, Anniv and valentines day, he said a pinup for his locker of me, I was all set to do it with an old friend but found out hes having some drug issues.
Being that I knew the photographer I would have been nervous but ok to do it, I can't see me doing this with a stranger, but I think you should go for it!

My Dsis did this, and the pictures were AMAZING! They were tasteful, not trashy, and beautiful. She did them in black and white.

A word of advice though, please, please, please don't, no matter how proud you are of them, DON'T bring them out at your children's birthday party and show them to the whole family!:scared1:
THEY DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM!!!! Especially your Dad, and BIL.:headache:

Personally? I'd love to. But nobody would want to see it. And to keep it myself would just be weird.

Yes I did. The photographer was an acquaintance, not a close friend, and he had a female assistant there during the whole session at his own request, not mine. I brought a tasteful outfit that I wanted to use, and he worked around that; it was nothing that I would have been afraid of my (ex)husband's friends seeing if he chose to show it. We spent about two hours with different poses and a week or so later I chose the one I wanted in an 8 X 10, and then paid him for the proofs. My (ex)husband was very happy with his birthday present and I didn't feel like I had done anything distasteful that I would be ashamed of later. I got the pics in the divorce :rotfl: but even if I had not, I would not be afraid of him having them.

One of the girls in the office just did this for her boyfriend for Valentine's Day. She was lucky in that another girl that works in our building does photography on the side and has a studio in her home. The pictures turned out really nice and she gave them to her boyfriend last night. He said it was the best gift he'd ever gotten.

Also, it is amazing what they can do with a computer these days. She has a tattoo on her tummy that she didn't want to show in the pictures and the photographer airbrushed it out. She also airbrushed out my friend's double chin. :goodvibes

i've always wanted to do one, but i can't find anyone around here who does them!!

it's probably better off tho. i'd get there and i'd be so nervous to even be there i'd probably cry, then leave anyway lol

Yes - I turned 40 last summer and decided to go for it. It was pretty easy because my best friend is a photographer and she did the pics for me.

Easy to feel comfy with your best friend. We had a lot of fun - laughed until we were both in tears... and that plays havoc with your make-up. ;)

I wouldnt' even think about it unless i lost some weight.... I can'tstand to see pictureso f myself now... but if i could lost at least 30 lbs I might consider it.

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

I forgot that one of the girls I work with is also a photographer so she could do the pictures also athough I think I might be more comfortable with a stranger :rotfl: . I definitely want to go the tasteful route with some black and whites and maybe an "old time" feel. I'm still trying to talk my friend into it

I did it!! It was before DBF and I were really together. He is a photographer and suggested it (jokingly). We both have copies of the pictures and we both absolutely LOVE them.

I am having 8x10s made of 3 of them for our 1 year anniversary (trying to figure out how to frame them. I would have no problem with strangers seeing them- they are definitely tasteful.

Go for it- just the way you are. And dont forget to relax, the pictures come out 100x better ;)

I've done them. It was an awkward experience, but the pictures look awesome (thanks Photoshop)! My pics involved a fire truck, my dh's turnouts/bunkers, and not much else. I have to say, I looked hot, and my dh loved them.

I would recommend having a glass (or two!) of wine before you do them, it'll help you relax. Get your hair and makeup done if you can, and wear something you're comfortable in. You don't have to do trashy lingerie, or even show anything too personal. You can undress from the waist up, and maybe do a shot of your back to the camera, looking over your shoulder, or lay on your tummy with either cute undies or a sheet placed just so to cover yourself...there are all sorts of fun things you can do. Have fun with it!
