Ok ladies...hotflashes! I'm only 40!!

Odd little fact: Left-handed women tend to go through menopause at least 5years earlier than right-handed women.. (I'm a lefty..) I read that tid bit in a magazine at the doctors office..


From the age of 35 on, I have always slept with no heat on in the bedroom (no matter how cold) and with the window open.. If you can't do that, I would suggest an oscillating fan near your bed and sleeping with the skimpiest type of clothing you feel comfortable in..

my husband takes comadin, so he is always cold and I am always hot....it makes it very interesting to try and sleep together at night!!

Had every thing taken out at 31. Did not take the htr or anything after about 3 yrs. I found the pills made the hot flashes and night sweats worse. Now 11 yrs. later I have finally gotten over the flashes for the most part. Still get about 1 a month.

I sure dont miss anything, They put me on lupron when it was brand new, think I had more issues with that shot monthly. Even after surgery I did not get hot flashes that much. So for you ladies that have hot flashes I'm sorry. I had mood swings Jo

I am 46, almost 47, and I don't quite get hot flashes yet.

For the past 4 or 5 years, I'm definitely more sensitive when I'm in a stuffy room (I'm okay when it's hot outside though). A few times a year, mostly in the summer when my bedroom can't get cool enough, I wake up in a sweat but it's nothing really major.

I have noticed my periods getting a tad irregular but, again, nothing major.

I think hot flashes can be normal at 40 but not what happens to MOST women. With that, I would probably just have a full workup to make sure nothing else is off.

I feel for you all. I had hot flashes when I was pregnant with both kids and they were miserable. had one in Animal Kingdom with my DS strapped to me and had to sit down on the floor in one of the shops to steady myself. After they were born the night sweats were so bad I would go through 4-6 nightshirts each night and have to sleep with an easily replaced towel under me with extra top sheets waiting for me to replace the one I had ruined. I wouldn't even wake DH up to change the sheets, I'd just yank them off and replace everything. Both my kids were winter babies so the moment DH left the house For work I would turn off the heat for the whole day, Icould see my breath but I felt good.

I've been noticing my own thermostat has seemed a bit off lately but I am praying for menopause to end PMS and migraines. can I ask if peri menopause has improved anyone's moods or stopped headaches?
