OK ladies! Do you carry a purse, cross-body, or just a lanyard at the parks?

Most days I have a small crossbody bag that fits my sunglasses, mini-water bottle, camera (yes, I'm old school), phone and a few odd and ends. However, if we're only headed to the park for a few hours (usually in the evening), I have a small wallet that hooks on my belt loop containing my ID, 2 credit cards, annual pass, room key and a small amount of cash. Throw my phone in my back pocket and I'm good to go.

Use a fanny pack (3 prong clip) or just get a locker.
You will have to use a locker at hulk and rip ride for your phone ( and anything else) they use a metal detector.

I did Universal Orlando Resort with a small crossbody bag a few years ago. I wasn't doing many of the rides where you needed to put your bag in a locker. On the few rides where I did need to put my bag in a locker it wasn't a big deal.

There are very few rides you would not be allowed to take your bag along. Pack your bag with what you normally take into a theme park and do no let the possibility of needing to store it in a locker change what you would like to have in the park with you on a day to day basis.

Yep, 3 prong fanny pack and lanyard. My fanny pack doesn’t hold much, but enough for my phone, small wallet, keys, sunglasses and hand sanitizer, with extra masks. Works on all rides but the two coasters that only allow lanyard inside shirt. The few times I have to use locker, not a big deal. My lanyard always has outfacing room key and my annual pass.

I prefer a crossbody IRL, but at Universal I find it's worth it to wear an ugly fannypack, because I don't love the crowded lockers. I don't like the wild rollercoasters that won't allow you to wear a fannypack onboard, so that's not an issue for me.

That being said, if you end up with packages or armfuls of Mardi Gras beads, the lockers are fine. You can get in and out of them with relatively minor fuss. It's just that with a fannypack, you're able to move from ride to ride much more quickly!

I have a lanyard phone case (make sure you get one with a wide ribbon so it doesn't dig into your neck) with a little zipper pocket where I can keep my ID/credit card secure, and sleeves on the back where I can store the park tickets and room keys for me and all the kiddos (too little to have their own lanyards). It worked great.

In my experience, the process to store your bag/items in the lockers for the rides that require them has never been time consuming enough for me to carry less or carry a different bag. I sometimes carry a crossbody purse and sometimes carry a 3 prong fanny pack. The 3 prong fanny pack allows you to avoid the lockers on some rides, but not all. I also wear a lanyard with my EP and park tickets, which is the most convenient approach because you need to show your EP twice in the EP queue and you'll need your park ticket to open the lockers. A lanyard is also permitted on the two rides that don't allow anything on your person otherwise.

When you go off to the locker will you lose your spot in the queue ? How do you get back & join the rest of the party?

DW has just her lanyard, I have a very simple wife.

LOL, us too! My husband and I don't carry anything to the parks in bags or backpacks. I just have my lanyard and a very small ( 2 inch x2 inch) plastic ziplock (they usually come with clothing and hold thread or a button) that I put my daily pills in. That's it.
My husband wears cargo pants and puts anything else we might need in the pockets, which is not much. We find it so much easier to leave most everything at the resort at this stage of life.

I try to go bagless as much as possible, as we tend to go when it’s gross hot out.

I use a Flipbelt, the one with a zippered pocket. I keep my ID, hotel card, cash, credit card, passes, phone, two Advil, and small stick of sunscreen. One of my kids also wears one, to hold phone and cash.

I would like to go bagless or with fanny pack but what about with water bottles or refillable cups? if they need to be put into lockers anyway then I might as well take a crossbody....

For most of the rides with lockers, they are outside of the queue. You put your stuff in the lockers, then get in line.

At Hagrids, the lockers aren't in the queue, but the line usually extends past the locker area. There, one person will split off and go through the locker area while the other goes around. There are two choices here - the non-locker person can try to stand to the side and wait for the locker person or, the non-locker person can continue into the queue. In the latter case, the locker person will have to "excuse me, pardon me" there way through the queue to get to the rest of their party.

In our experience, most of the time, the TMs tell the non-locker people to 'keep moving' because there isn't room for everyone to stand and wait for their locker person.

Haven't really seen how it works, but the lockers at Velocicoaster are in the queue.

Thank you cschaaf! Then I guess in Hagrids we will all go to the locker and rejoin the queue (I hope we are rejoining from the locker portion not from all the way to the end of queue!).

I haven't carried a bag to the parks in years! My go-to is cargo pants or shorts with big zippered or buttoned pockets in them. I only carry my ID, ticket, credit card, some cash, cell phone and maybe a small bottle of hand sanitizer. It's worked well for me in the past, although it can sometimes be hard to find women's shorts/pants with big pockets!

TMs are there to only let one person in with the bags. If you are the only adult with some kids, I'd guess they'd let the whole group go in but if there are multiple adults, one will go in while the other walks around the locker building with the rest of the group.

The party will join back up after the lockers.

This might be a spoiler if you don't want to see any of the HP world before you walk in, so click at your own risk. ;)

It's an older image, Dragon Challenge was still open, but the Hagrid's entrance is in the same place.

Orient yourself so the train is on the right side. The Hagrid's line will go in the same direction, right in front of the train headed towards that building that has the Hogsmeade sign. That building is one of the locker areas.

Click the screen to walk forward so you are in front of the locker building. The person with the bags will go up the steps and put the bags in the locker. The rest of the party continues past the building and makes a right when they pass it.

Click forward a few steps and turn to face the big flags - that's where the Hargid's queue 'officially' starts. You'll also see the exit for the lockers. You can probably see that there isn't a lot of room here for the non-locker group to wait for their locker-going partners.

Not pictured is another locker building that is to the left of the queue entrance. You might be directed to that one instead.

cschaaf that was an amazing explanation with ingenious use of google map visual aids! Now I understand how the queue & lock work.Thank you thank you thank you !

On further review, I do think the second locker building is in these shots. It's the one to the left of the ride queue entrance. Same process for either locker area.

Allow me to show you an example of how the other locker areas work.

This will put you right in front of Men In Black. The path to the right of the trash cans, where a small group of people are standing, is the cul-de-sac that leads to the lockers. One person will take the bag(s) up there, place in a locker, then return down that same path.

The ride queue begins to the left, under the yellow arch.

That's just one example, but the other rides are variations on this theme.

It can be a bit confusing and overwhelming at first, but after you hit your 3rd locker area, you'll be a pro.

I'd prefer if they didn't have lockers for a lot of these rides, but, overall, it's not a huge deal.

One tip to make things easier for everyone - make a decision beforehand who is going to handle the lockers and have everything you need to go in them (remember sunglasses!) organized BEFORE you get to the locker entrance. Soooooo many times the congestion around the lockers is because families need to have a 10 minute conversation at the entrance.
