I can't believe there aren't any AP room only discounts out there unless you have a pin. I haven't even heard any serious chatter. I might have to reconsider the value of having AP's when we only go once a year if we can't get room discounts. I'm soooo depressed!:sad1:

Our thoughts exactly, it’s very disappointing to see all these deals (4/3, 5/2, Visa card etc.) and nothing specifically for AP Holders. The Pin deal for some AP holders (congratulations if you received one;)) really rubs it in!

We just bought out first AP's this week. I'm going to be seriously fumed if they don't put out some room-only discounts!

Allow me to join the AP venting party! I have a reservation late January/early February and I'd really love to save some money. Disney would probably get the money anyway, because I'd like to book a weekend trip to take my parents to see the holiday decorations - but the budget is perfectly balanced as is, so no savings means no weekend trip.

However, I did have a thought. I wondered if they are delaying a day or two because of opening the dining reservations back up to 180 days. We all know how overloaded their technical resources can be when they do something like this, so maybe they were giving it a couple days to calm back down before hitting it with all the additional stress of a new discount coming out.

I'll be seriously disappointed if they don't announce something soon.

seems like the APers are always the last to get a discount and then most of the rooms are GONE. :sad2:

You know this still really irritates me too. I sent an e-mail complaint on Oct 17th, and a day later "magically" received a pin code. As I already had my DVC reservation for the following week, yes I used the pin. However, I have yet to receive a legitimate reply as to WHY they are making this decision to use pins instead of general codes.

This is the worst possible treatment, to the worst possible groups of guests, at the worst possible time. I am sorry you do not treat your most loyal customers this way.

I re-forwarded my original e-mail, lets see how long it takes to get a reply. IF I get a reply.

Passholders DO get the leftovers--been that way for a long time.

With the discounts being 30-40% this past year the need for an AP rate has diminished. When they had AP rates for 2009 they were blocked out for Friday and Saturday nights, making a package with a room discount a better deal than an AP RO.

I've had an AP since 2002 and have always bought it for park admission moreso than discounts that might not be there when I want to travel. There are plenty of perks for passholders to include the ability to purchase a room with dining (and no tickets), the TiW card, and free parking (which is valuable if you are local or staying OP.)

FWIW.

I only use ME, so the parking doesn't help me. Paying for a discount card so I can save on maybe 4 meals each trip might break even, and in the 16 yrs we have had AP's, there have always been room discount at the time of year we go. I just think if they are going to give the visa holders big discounts on rooms, it makes sense to give the AP holders the same thing. I know room discounts aren't guaranteed with AP's, but if they are going to give out discounts anyway, why not to AP holders?

Just read a post of another thread someone got a room only code that had dates that extended halfway through Dec. 2010. :scared1: I think we may be in trouble here. Just doesn't look good.

Disney... you are killing us here!!! I'll let it slide;) if AP holders finally get a good code for early 2010 and it's 40% off rooms, free dining, and a $500 gift card!:rotfl:

I know not the AP, but if you have Disney Visa there is an offer through mid Feb for 40% off some rooms. Also, call and make sure you don't have the PIN for sure, sometimes you miss an email or mailing.
