Hello all,
I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning that this past January, I was asked to head up The Apollo One memorial service - Peter Werner went beyond the call of duty to be MOC for it - we had one week to get it together - I have been asked to head it up again this coming January - As of next month, I will be putting it all together - we would like a big turnout and if you are in town on January 27th of 2005, you are most welcomed to attend the cermonies which is held at pad 37A were the accident took place 37 years ago - Mrs. Grisson and her sons were there and will be there this coming January forgoing any problems - its a time of remembrance for the crew of Apollo One, Challenger and Columbia - We hope to have numberous of speakers -
Now I know this may not be the place for this post, but this is the only place I have ever posted and wanted to make sure that anyone who wanted to attend, could make plans for it - the services is very effective - Pete did just a beautiful job last year, that finding someone to do what he did, will be the hardest part yet -
anyhow the reason for this post - if you feel that you and your family are interested - I must have contact with you BEFORE THE END OF NOVEMBER - there are certain rules and regulations unfortunalty, but in the interest in the safety of our country and people, there is information NASA has to have before acceptance to NASA - its not as bad as it seems now - honest -
Anyhow you can either call me at the shop or drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com.
Thank you for allowing me to post this here -
Much love
Always
Shirley

I remember Pete doing this last year--and what an honor.

I wish I were going to be there in January because I would love to attend this.

Thanks to you Shirley for not only helping with the memorial, but for posting here so others can have the opportunity to attend.

Sue to see this in real life was indescrible - to actually stand there at pad 37A to pay tribute was quite an honor - if you have the opportunity to attend, please do so - its something that we don't get a chance to do very often - I was very honored when asked to put it together last year - I even was able to get my friend John to play some of Astronaut Grisson's favorite songs -
We all lit electric candles just at the right time - I believe it is something every child should see.
Thanks again for the comeback.
Always
Shirley

I had this tucked away and just thought I would bring up again in case anyone wanted to attend this event - I realize that January 27th falls on a Thursday, but if you do decide to attend, just drop me a note at my email address - I will be meeting with the officials on wednesday and will know more then exalty what all will be happening.
Thanks again
Always
Shirley
