Now I'm thinking is this really a deal
2 adults
2 kids ages 3 and 9
7 nights Pop Century, 7 day myw park hoppers tickets and dining for 1970.00.I'm trying to number crunch but I'm still confused :confused3 . How much does a family of this size usually spend on food at Disney( kids are picky eaters). Also if I have the dining plan could we have a character meal everyday or would we even want to do that :confused3 . Please help me I need to make a decision before I pay my deposit.
Thanks

What are your dates?

FYI - the dining plan is $35 per adult per night and $10 per child per night, I think that even picky eaters eat at least $10 per day at Disney!

Oops, sorry the dates are 5/28/05---6/4/05. Does a family of four usually spend 90.00 per day on food? ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Have you checked out the menus on Deb's site? www.allearsnet.com

They're great for giving you an idea of what your family may eat at each restaurant.
You can use your sit down options for character meals.

We stayed at Pop during the hurricanes.

I would say we came pretty close to spending $100 a day on food.

Breakfast usually ran anywhere from $15-$30 depending on if we did cereal, etc. or pancakes and waffles.

Dinner was usually about $40. We often got 2 entrees and some veggies.

I'd say the dining package sounds like a good deal.

Without any codes or anything, I was quoted $1916.71.
4/23 - 4/28 (6 nights) at Pop
MYW Tics w/Hopper opt for 7 days
MYW Dining
This is for 2 adults & one child 6

I'm not sure if we are considered in the same season, though.

My husband loves to crunch numbers. Here's what he came up with. It looks like you got a good deal. Prices for Tickets from MouseSavers.com.

7 Day MYW Tickets for Adults $237.50 X 2 = $475.00
7 Day MYW Tickets for Kids (3-9) $198.09 X 2 = $396.18
Meal Plans if $35/Day Adult $ 70.00 X 7 = $490.00
...$10/Day Kids $ 10.00 X 7 = $ 70.00
Room at POP about $100/Day $100.00 X 7 = $700.00

WOW!! Was that for a family of four? :goodvibes

LOL - we are planning our 3rd trip and yes you can plan on spending $100 for food for a family of 4 - very easy to do at WDW :earseek: But we have always enjoyed trying new resturants and the kids love going to the character meals!

We just came home yesterday from 6 nights at Pop---we flew so we didnt' have any food with us--we spent about 100.00 a day.

We just booked with AAA.

The package is:
8 nights at Pop - regular season
MYW tickets w/ hopper and Plus Pack Options - 2 Adults, 1 Child
Magical Express from airport and back
Dining Package

Our total is $2219.

I think it is very difficult to compare rates and figure out what is a good deal because there is so much conflicting information!

So, OP, you got a post card and they let you use the discount on your room AND have the dining? That seems to be where people are having different luck. You can only add dining to a package and Disney can be funny about letting you have a discounted room as part of a "package".

All I know is the price I got from AAA was cheaper than the price from Disney, so we went with it! We have until August to make changes without penalty, so if a post card shows up hopefully I can get a better rate.

Oh, don't forget!! When you are figuring prices, tickets AND dining are subject to 11.5% tax when you book a package.

I just wanted to add that when comparing dining pkg. to what you might spend in real $$ per day it becomes a little tricky - the dining pkg is 2 meals plus snack. So in order to compare it fairly, you would have to assume that on your own dime, you're only purchasing those two meals and snack. If you typically do breakfast, lunch and dinner then you'll be spending extra money out of pocket with the dining pkg.

However, for a lot of people - the sit down meal is filling enough to cover two meal times and there is no need for a third meal. My family can go both ways on this depending how much they eat each meal. I'm still on the fence with the dining pkg. I just can't predict how much my family will eat and if two meals plus snack a day will be enough. I also have an 11 year old who gets charged like an adult and I'm having trouble accepting that we'll spend $35 on him per day when I doubt his meal selections would be worth that amount.

I'm looking forward to hearing back from more people with a 'tween who purchased the dining pkg. for them.
