about the birthday ideas?

My DD turns 5 while on the cruise, what can I do for her?
I know I can order the cake and decorations for my room but what else?
I have the link to shirley's site :goodvibes but then someone mentioned DCL has their own baskets too, where do I find the information for that?
Can I call up DCL and specifically request a cake at the dinner for her b-day or should I wait til we actually get on board and talk to someone then :confused3
Oh,, she's really into the disney princesses what kind of things do you suggest to go into her basket?

Also, this is unrelated but I was wondering how do you find out what your dinner rotation is going to be? I'm going on the 4 night bahamas cruise 9/11-9/15

thx :goodvibes

:flower: Hi First Timer,
Glad to hear you are planning a party for your princess. I recommend things like princess pj's ,bathing suit and cover up, sun glasses, maybe even a tote bag. All these things are on disneydirect.com right now on sale :sunny: You can also send these items to Shirley from what I have read and she can get them all taken care of for you. In a brochure I received from AAA it had a page where you could pick from a selection of parties(anniversary,b-day,even sail away celebrations). If I am remembering right they will deliver them to your stateroom. You can even decorate a little. There is a link on DCL web page, I think it is after you enter your reservation number. I am thinking up things to add to my princesses basket when we go in August. I hope I have helped. I could go on and on about things to add. I love to make up gift baskets :wizard:

If you want to see what Disney Cruise line offers for gifts/baskets, you can go on their website, in the MY CRUISE section, there is a spot for Gifts and Amenities. That pretty much outlines everything Disney would have available for you. I think you would be able to put together a more personalized gift basket through someone like Shirley's Gifts. Another thought is to put together the items yourself and mail it to the ship.

As far as the cake, I would make sure that Disney or your travel agent noted the birthday in your reservation. Once you are on board, talk to your serving team about the cake. Since they are the ones who make it happen, I always feel better talking to them directly (this is where your head server comes in handy!) As far as knowing your dining rotation ahead of time, I don't think they normally let you know until you are on board.

We will be celebrating my dd's 5th birthday at a Beaches resort again this year. Last year we went for her 4th. What I did was just take a few small packable gifts with me and order a cake for dinner that night. A waitress we had also brought her a piece of cake at lunch with a candle in it. I could have paid extra for a party with Elmo but thought that might be kind of lame with only 5 people. My point is that she had a blast and felt very special that day even though there was not a big deal made out of it. Your dd will be so happy to just be on the cruise she will remember it forever no matter what you do.

Have fun!

Jackie

Oh, I also meant to tell you that I bought her a big plastic pin (it just so happened to be disny princesses) to wear all day. It had ribbons and lit up. Everyone who saw it wished her a happy birthday!
I got it at a party store.

Jackie
