A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about a lady problem I was having.. Well I STILL haven't had my time of the month... :sad2: I've taken 2 pregnancy tests.. One three weeks ago and one yesterday and both came back negative.

What is REALLY ticking me off is that my clinic at Henry Ford REFUSES to let my doctor see me to take a blood test/other basic fluid tests .. :furious: They won't even let me leave a message for my doctor that I have a problem... They also said they don't have an OBGYNO , so then who was the one lady their I was seeing once a year for my lady check up?? :rolleyes1

Ughhh... They won't even let me leave a message with my doctor to talk to her about finding a gyno... They said I could look them up online..

I finally got ahold of someone from the U of M clinic and I will be seeing them next week.

Should I complain about the way my clinic is handling my concerns?

Definitely complain! They should not be treating you that way.....you have a legitimate medical problem and it is their job to eithe fix it or point you to the direction you need to go!
I'm appalled for you!

You know what, just let it go. They aren't worth your time. Go someplace and get yourself taken care of and please remember...sometimes, a woman just simply doesn't have a period and nothing is wrong. I went through it for 4 straight years, I would always have one month when I had no period. Next month comes along and back to normal! Now, I can pinpoint my period to the EXACT day and often times to the morning or evening. :thumbsup2

I'd complain for sure. You could start by finding out which of your local hospitals this doc is on staff at. Call them and ask for the Director of Medical Staff Services. They'll be VERY interested in this! Definite patient care issues for them! :( Note the date and time you talked with someone at the doc's office if not their name. They can always track who was working then.

I once had left a message with someone in my OB's office for him. Three days later I called and got him on the phone. I mentioned the message I left earlier because he hadn't called back. He never got the message and asked me whom I spoke with. I mentioned the name. I can tell you she was gone permanently!! They need to relate ALL messages to the docs. It's their job and their fault if they don't.

I would place a formal complaint with the state board of physicians. And, I would call the doctors office and tell the person that you speak with that you hope they are happy that the doctor will have a formal written complaint in his file with the state board because his office staff was acting in an irresponsible manner. This is just some office staff person acting as if they are the be all end all, making decisions they should not be making. And I would tell them that you will also write the physician, via certified letter/registered letter that can only be signed for by him that his office staff refused you contact and services by him, that you have written the state board, and because of the delay in care if something is wrong, you will seek legal counsel. I hate dealing with office staff who act in the manner.

I would file a complant both with the state and the director for that clinic. I had similar problem I went several months no period no pregnancy it turned out I had a cyst on my ovary. Hopefully yours is just stress.

Does the clinic regularly handle obstetrics? If they do, then you have a case.

However, they very well may not have an OB/GYN on staff. You may have been seen by a family-type doctor (I forgot what they're called--General Practice, maybe?). Mine does my yearly check-ups but would refer me to a gynecologist if there were any problems.

The GP(s) at your clinic may not be able to handle obstetrics due to malpractice insurance costs in that particular field. I don't know a lot about it, but I wonder if even recommending an obstetrician would be considered something they could be sued for down the line?

Just offering another point of view, here.

I wish knew a way to just bypass the front office all together and just get ahold of my doctor or her nurse...

I thought all doctors offices could at least do blood tests.. I can't believe they won't even let me leave her a message. :sad2:

When I first tried to leave her a message the receptionist cut me off when I was talking about my missed period and said they don't do obgyn.. Ughhh... Owell... University of Michigan will be getting my $ now..

I would think they could at least order the blood work done and if it comes back positive than you could find an obgyn. How hard would that be?

I'd bet you $5 it has something to do with their Liability Insurance Premiums.

Don't be too quick to judge the Dr- my husband is an internal Med doc - he does pap tests- gyn stuff but when it comes to OB - no way he is not certified for that and the insurance premiums for OB are through the roof so it would not be surprising if a Dr at a clinic would not do it ,many OBGYNs are leaving that part of their practice because of $$ issues. Just a thought - and with all the new HEPA regulations privacy is also a huge issue!

this is likely a front office mishap, not a physician foul-up. I would not complain to the state board(what are they supposed to do about it? ) I would, however, consider changing practices. There is no excuse for not allowing you to leave a message for a nurse to call 7 discuss your problem. It doesn't matter whether they do OB, heart surgery, or toenail removals, they should be able to take a message.

Missing a period is not "just something that happens." For some women, it is not uncommon. However, it needs to be evaluated--there are lots of reasons why you might miss a period.

I wonder if the doctor knows his staff is handling his calls this way? Might be a big surprise to him :confused3

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

ITA!! Except, I wouldn't consider changing practices, I would do it. Do you have a planned parenthood or some other clinic where you could get in rather soon for a blood test?

Have you always been regular?

First, I would defiently Complain. that is not right. Second I would insist on a full exam. Do you have kids?

A friend of mine was a month late, actually I think it was about 6 weeks. She took PG test over and over again, Negative. She finally got it a few weeks ago. She saw the doctor and related it to stress. Now her life wasn't any more stressful then it had been other than being late. I think that she worried herself so much that it was late b/c of that.

I would rule out any medical conditions, especially early. If you are young and want to have kids in the future, I would stay on top of the doc b/c you don't want anything to mess with your fertility.
