Ok, how many going to US for Harry Potter?

We're already planning our 2009/2010 trip. Already got our park tickets. Just trying to figure out the days. Gotta try and plan around work, school, and sports.

Who is Harry Potter? Is he a member of the Jonas Brothers?

Seems from a number of posts, that people are planning on a trip to US in spring of 2010.

We are planning the same thing. I'm now thinking it will be crazy crowded and may be worth waiting longer before going. Although, 2010 already seems so far away.

How is construction going? anyone have an update on completion?

well we only get down to Orlando every 2 years or so anyway. And as it turns out, next time is 2010. I admit, we ARE "Disney everytime, Universal every few years to check the updates". But with the opening of Wizarding World, we are going *FOR SURE* in 2010.

My understanding is that groundbreaking started in 2007 and that progress is advancing quite quickly. That there are significant structures going up.

We've got a family trip in the pipeline for May 2010. We're hoping to see a little, if not all of the HP part of IOA. I'm hoping they don't touch DD though, that's one close to my heart, as it was my first ever roller coaster that I rode just this April past!!

My understanding ( from rumours of course ) is that DD will remain there, but might undergo some theme changes to make it more "Harry Potter Friendly".

We're planning on going back in 2010 (we just got back 10 days ago) and I was wondering whether I should go ahead and get the park tickets now with the special or wait - we'll be getting a package through AAA most likely.

AND yes we love Harry Potter so this will be an Universal/IOA and Sea World trip no Disney - wow! this is coming from a Disney fanatic :lmao:

I'm debating doing a few days at Universal (never been) and a 3 night cruise, or staying a week in Orlando to do Universal, Discovery Cove, and SeaWorld. At first I was so excited about the idea of a cruise, but all my kids want to do on the cruise is swim with dolphins. We can do that in Orlando!

Wow! That's an impressive statement. Even my cousin who went down two years ago to Universal cause she got much better prices than Disney decided to slip off to Disney for a couple of days cause she couldn't stay away.

For us, it WILL be a disney trip still in 2010, but we will probably ( and it IS shocking for US ) do TWO days at Universal because of Harry Potter. In the past it's always been one day, at one OR the other, every COUPLE of trips. But I gotta see The Simpsons ride, and I GOTTA see Hogwarts.

xipetotec-You'll love the Simpsons ride! My DH & I rode it twice and my DDs rode it three times - we stayed on site so we had no waiting time.

In 2010 will be the last HP movie so what a better celebration than to go to see Hogwarts at Universal :rotfl2:

I was looking for info and found this, I hope it is wrong:

"Universal Orlando has now widened the window in which the official opening will occur. Originally, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was to open in late 2009. Then it was late 2009 to early 2010. Now, it could be as late as June 30, 2010 according to the Orlando Sentinel."

We want to go in summer of 2010.

2010, i could live with that date.

this means hhn for 09 wouldn't be as crowded then....

I'm planning to go in July 2010 for my son's :scared1: 13th birthday! He loves Harry Potter (and me too!).
We're planning on going to Uni in July 2010 as well. We when I say "we" I really mean that I am telling my DH that we are going, and he insist that I am crazy. I want to go on a no kids trip for our 15th yr wedding anniversary. I want to do a split stay between Uni and WDW. I have never been to US. Harry Potter is the only thing that I love enough to pull me away from WDW, and get me to Uni. I am hoping that I can use the new Harry Potter stuff as a way to get DH to agree to the trip. I just can't wait for it to open.

We (me, DW, DD10, DD7, DS5) went in WDW in April this year, and we were planning IoA for October 2010 by the time we returned. We generally prefer US/IoA to WDW.

I like the idea of going for Halloween; we've never done the HHN before, but always wanted to. HP & HHN seem like a fantastic combination... anyone know what month in 2010 the HP movie releases?

The new problem is, my wife has a new job as a teacher, and we're not sure when she can take vacation. So we may go some other time than October.

This morning were wondering if 2010 is too long a wait. We did just go this year, and money is always a concern. So we're considering a trip to Canada's Wonderland in 2009 (we could drive from Halifax, and we'd visit family in Ottawa along the way).

That's us too. I've never been interested in Universal, but we will go for Harry!

I teach, and ds (11 tomorrow!) plays baseball through June. We start back around Aug. 1 every year, so July is pretty much my traveling time.

Don't know what the trip will look like yet, but we will be there in some form or fashion in 2010! :thumbsup2

We'll definitely be returning in 2010 to see Harry Potter land. However we always fit a trip to uni into our plans anyway, but I'll just make sure to time our next visit for after HP opens.
