OK - 'fess up...

1. Missing the sail-away party. Our cruise departed about an hour late, because some passengers were arriving late from the airport. I assumed that the sail-away party would be delayed as well... and managed to miss it completely. At least DH and I enjoyed watching a pod of dolphins cavorting next to the ship from our verandah.

2. Missing the midnight buffet. I just plain forgot about it. Oh well - gotta remember to highlight my navigators on the next cruise!

Not taking time to relax. We thought that our first cruise (a 4 night) would be our once and only Disney Cruise; so we tried to fit in anything we could.

Since then I have learned that once you go on a Disney Cruise you are hooked. You will be back. So take time to enjoy and whatever you miss this time, just tell yourself you will do next time.

I took a clue from Barb and Tony who say they try to include a new experience in with every trip. We only go once a year, so that isn't too hard. This past cruise (a 3 night) we visited the adult beach for the first time and tried out the treadmills in the Vista Spa.

I already know that on the next cruise (a 7 night), I want to try out High Tea at Palo for the first time!

Countdown to our trip to Dinseyland!

Is this the economic alternative to Disney???...

No BD, we are going to Disneyland because DH has a conference in San Diego and we decided to join him as long as we could get in a Disney Experience. We have never been to the new California Adventure Park (or whatever it is called).

We will be back at Disney World in September before our cruise. Since we live in Indiana, it really isn't that economical to go to Disneyland--but we don't get to pick the conference location (if we could, I would pick Orlando every time!!!!)

Biggest mistake on first cruise - not knowing that there was a "welcome aboard" buffet. We stayed and played and ate at WDW until 2 or so and therefor arrived at the port around 3:30. Thats way to late even if you don't want to go to Palo or do any spa treatments. Makes for a very rushed first day on the ship. You just get on board, have to do the safety drill then get ready for dinner. After dinner the show, after the show down to the adults clubs and guess what, day one gone and you don't have a clue how to get around the ship other than those three venues.


westjones - it's call "Disney's California Adventure" Take away the "Disney" and think small and you have local theme park (only on a smaller scale). Just don't have your sites set to high!

What not to miss at DCA is Soaring Over California - it truely is a fantastic ride and California Screaming (the rollercoaster - it's one of the best we have been on). If you like Disney movies be sure to check out the Animation building. The "waiting" room (the main, large central room is really cool). I dont know when you are going but spring '04 sometime Tower of Terror will be opening.

There still is Disneyland and it's still good - just be prepared for the closures (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain). If you are going to be there before the first week in January, DONT miss the Haunted Mansion (Nightmare Before Christmas overlay) and Its a Small World (christmas overlay) they are really really good.

Biggest mistake: Booking a 4 day instead of a 7 day. The minute we walked on the ship I knew 4 days just weren't going to be enough.

I wish we would have gone to the Goofy pool and for DH and I to enjoy the adult pool.

I researced EVERYTHING and took in all the information I could get (from this site and others) which made our trip the best vacation we ever have. Let me tell you, my hubby would constantly raise his glass to me and thank me for all the research - because of it, we had a stress free - wonderful magical cruise.

For our 5/8/04 Western Cruise - I already got my folder going. I print out the threads that relate to that cruise to help me plan - again! That's the fun of it all for some us.... planning is just so much fun!

I second the "Soaring Across America" as a MUST see attraction.
Sometimes in the evenings, we'll meet my hubby there and ride a couple rides - never missing "Soaring" and then go to dinner at Downtown Disney. I get queasy if I'm not in the first row which lifts up he highest - which lets your feet dangle. The back row feels like you may slip out any minute because it is not as high.

My biggest mistakes were:

1. Worrying so much about formal night. It's just not that big a deal!

2. Waiting till the end of the cruise to book the next one. Huge line! Next time I'll do it at the beginning.

3. Packing so many pairs of shoes. I only wore two pair the entire cruise.

4. Cruising in May. It was just too hot and humid for me.
