I'm exactly 2 weeks away from my first cruise...while there are wonderful "best tip" threads for cruising - I want to know what is the biggest mistake you made on the cruise. I just want to make sure history doesn't repeat itself!

Thanks!

Not booking the next cruise while on board to get the shipboard credit. Both times, I booked within 2 weeks after the cruise. If you even think you might want to do it later, book it. You can always get a refund on your deposit.

Have fun!

Our biggest mistakes were....

...not taking time to just sit on the decks and relax. We were always go-go-go.

...not buying enough Disney cruise souveniers on the boat (shirt, bag, lisence plate, etc.) Because, unless you want to bid for it on eBay, you can't get that stuff anywhere else!

Not getting myself a disney cruise tshirt

Taking way to many clothes with me.

Also, not booking while on board..the lines were so long every time we went by, we kept trying...but didn't want to waste time standing in line...we are sorry now.

Also, not enough up on deck, relaxing time.

We took a few belgian beers and a bottle of wine with us...we didn't use a bit of it. Won't ever take any extra drinks with.

...WE did however use every bit of the water we took...that was a great thing to have with....

does getting off the ship at the end of the cruise count... :D

Seriously, I have to echo the booking onboard. I didn't on the first cruise and re-booked within a month for another one. I let the lines deter me. This time I wised up and just left a note for Donna to contact me (there was a drop box right by her desk) and did the whole thing via the ships voice mail after that. I didn't miss a thing on board that I wanted to do and still had the next cruise booked before I departed. My confirmation arrived in the mail within a week of my return home.

Shipboard credit? How much do you usually get? I'd never heard of that.

Being forward on deck 10, by the basketball court, for the sail-away. We got blasted by the horn (twice) and missed the port CMs waving goodbye with Mickey gloves.

We did, however, get to see two baby dolphins frolicking in the water right below us, which was very cool.

Because of the weather our sail away celebration was moved in doors to deck 3. It was very crowded, by the time we left the sail away celebration to go up on deck to hear the horn and see the CM wave us off, we were too late and missed it.

We waited so long to hear the horn, then missed it by a few seconds, it kind of bummed for out, but not for long!!!

I also agree with figment52, getting off the ship was my biggest mistake!!! ::yes:: LOL!!!

Getting off :(

Couldn't be helped. :(

...overpacking and not winning the BINGO jackpot. Also, getting off the ship!!!

Flushing the toilet with the top up. The suction forced a passer-by's British accent into my throat...

....waiting too long to book my second cruise (3 yrs.)
....waiting too long to buy DVC points so I could afford to cruise
....waiting until after disembarkation to book my third cruise
....not finding out about DISboards until after my second cruise

How's that accent workin for ya, BD?

Now I know what that sudden feeling of propulsion was...not to mention the curious experience of all the people at the Goofy Pool suddenly sounding like at-home week on the BBC.

My biggest mistake on the ship was taking the time to stand in lines to pose for official Disney pics with characters, as well as formal night pics, etc etc etc. Most of the pictures were pretty good, but this time, if there is a giant line, I'm walking on by...no really--no I am, I swear...no REALLY...

The biggest mistake I made was worrying so much about what mistakes I would make. Seriously. I had nightmares for months before the cruise, but a cruise is pretty much the ultimate vacation where you can not plan a single thing, just sort of go with the flow, and still have a wonderful time... not that you'd believe that from some of the posts around here, but it's true!

Stepharoonie,

By booking on-board for a 7-day, we received a $200 credit to use on whatever we want. That is one of the perks DCL uses to get you to book another cruise. You also get smaller credits if you book a 3 or 4 day cruise. And first time cruisers can get a $50.00 credit for being first time cruisers.

As to my mistakes, I would have to say not taking more time on the beach at Castaway Cay and buying a crappy "Cuban" cigar in Nassau.

Crikey!

Try to avoid the agro.

Next time you hafta spend a penny, close the lid. Otherwise we'
ll send ya to the balcony and the fisherman's daughter.

That should leave you dead chuffed, if not over the moon.

Next time you're near the Mary Bows, look us up will ya?
