I need help surprising friends of ours by joining them on a cruise. We have traveled/cruised many times before with them but they don't know we are going on their next cruise. I would like to arrange our dining so that we can sit together but I don't want to link our reservations since they will be able to see that in the app. It would be a bummer if we're on the same cruise but can't eat dinner together. Any ideas/suggestions? I dont want to be a pain when I know the crew has better things to do.

We also have something we want to have put in their cabin to surprise them which will definitely let them know we're there. We will have to find out where their cabin is (working on this one:rolleyes1) and give it to the cabin steward?
Any ideas welcome!!

You can order a gift through Disney Cruise Line and have it left in the room for them when they arrive and put a note with the gift so they know who it came from.

Disney is so super tight lipped on the privacy thing. People were unable to get my last cabin number since Disney moved us and several other families from deck 2. I went from 2020 to cabin 2058 to a cabin on deck five 24 hours before we arrived so the fish extender exchange group were not able to leave items at my door. They even closed off our half of deck 2 entirely so a person could not see a note I wanted to leave on the door. Disney would not give them even information even though they had my name and our prior room number.

If your friend is going to do an FE exchange, perhaps ask if you could see the names of the people in her group, which will also list room numbers for exchanges. Mention that a person from work/church planned on going the same week and was talking about the FE.

See on my transatlantic cruise they have closed off most of the deck 2 which is my favorite for my seasickness issues. And several of the people were unable to find me. Though two or three items did end up inside my room, so some people must’ve been able to convince Disney to at least deliver for them.

Best bet is to get as much information as possible. Ideally the reservation # would be key and their names.
If you have names and stateroom number that is fine also but the res # is like the golden ticket.

If you email DCL with as much info as possible, they should be able to sit you together.

Other option is to find out if they are first or second seating and make sure you are the same. Then once on the ship, go to the dining area at 130 when it opens and get in the same rotation and same table.

Good luck!

You should plan to surprise them before boarding the ship. What if they have booked specialty dining? What if they booked this cruise for a special occasion/reason?

I see that you've traveled together before, but this might be too much surprise for some people.

I think if you get your reservations linked to yours after their window opens for booking all the activities they probably wouldn’t even notice, unless they go in to change plans. I think the key is to somehow get their reservation number, maybe ask for a screenshot of their cruise countdown on the app, as it would have the reservation number at the bottom. Do you have a different Disney cruise booked too that you could send your countdown so they will send theirs?

I don't think Disney will add you for dining without the reservation number of the other group. (Nor should they. Disney doesn't know if you are the closest of friends or if you are a stalker.)

Unless you are POSITIVE of what their reaction will be if you show up, I would not show up unannounced. What if they were looking forward to finally having a quiet cruise to themselves, even if they have enjoyed travelling with you in the past?

If you are really that close of friends, then wouldn't you want to coordinate shore excursions and other things also?
