We usually eat off property when we visit Disney, or just at counter service places. However, one day this coming trip I am planning to surprise my sister and best friend with a full day of pampering. First, I would like to take them to lunch at a Disney resort, then I have a spa day planned (off property) with Swedish massage and facials and then I want to take them to a totally different resort for coffee and dessert.

Where should three mid-thirties, fairly classy but NEVER pampered, ladies go to feel the most cherished? And since I am paying for it all: not TOO much cash. Could I do the eating part for $100.00?

Thanks in advance!

Are you wanting to take them for coffee and dessert to a resort? Or were you thinking about dinner?

I'd think that you could choose any resort for coffee and dessert. There are some great Happiest Celebration on Earth desserts out at different restaurants in resorts and in the parks. I know there's a list of them all somewhere...just not quite sure where. Do a search and you should find them.

Have fun! What a nice friend you are!

Tea at the GF would be fantastic!

The Tea came to my mind immediately as well - that's a great way to end a morning of pampering at a spa.

Ditto, never been to it, but from all I've read, I think the Grand Floridian Tea would be absolutely perfect!!!

For off-property I would suggest a little shop called "Dessert Lady". Patty has been in business for years doing cakes for high-end restaurants. She now also has a cafe where you can buy her cakes whole or by the slice. She also has a very large selection of wines by the glass. If you don't want cake she does also have some quiche.

Her shop is in a Shopping Center at the Southwest corner of the intersection of Kirkman (SR435) and Conroy, about 1.5 miles North of Universal Studios. Get off I4 at Exit 75B, Kirkman Road North, do a U-turn at the 3rd traffic light, make a right into the shopping center and turn left to the end; it is very close to the Chinese Restaurant. It is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 11:00.

I'll warn you that it has long lines sometimes at night. Also, all the art on the wall is for sale.

And you have to see the woman's Rest Room (even the men should look at it).

GF Tea is perfect for what you have in mind.

You can definitely do 3 of you for less than $100. I think the "Grand Tea" or whatever it is called now is like $25 bucks a head, so even with tax and tip, you'll be able to do it.

Hey "Uncle Mike" what the heck are you doing checking out the Ladies Room?

Well, let me make this suggestion..depending on the time of your massage..I would treat them to a great breakfast, say Kona Cafe at the Poly, rather than lunch, since a massage on a full stomach is not much fun. Then, go get your massages and such and return to the grand floridian for High Tea. You can do this ala carte or choose from one of the pre-fixed menus..either way it is a great bargain and totally wonderful way for girls to spend a nice afternoon.

Oh, and don't forget..go ahead and take advantage of valet parking with your breakfast or lunch, especially if you choose to return to the grand floridian in the afternoon, since self parking at GF is a total nightmare and miles from the building. Once you pay valet parking you get it free for the rest of the day at the other resorts you stop at.

Do you know the name of the place? "Dessert Lady?" That interests me a lot as I am a wedding cake baker for a living! If it was really cool that might be a good idea. So maybe breakfast and then that? Or the tea sounds good too. I sneakily asked my sister because she tried to go to the tea there before and she said it was "intimidating" as there were ladies with big hats getting out of limos and she was a bit embarassed in her capris and cotton top.

What would need to wear for it? I looked at the menu and the one that interests me is the $12.50 one, so it would definately be in my price range. We are adventurers in our taste buds as well (I forgot to mention that) so I was looking at someplace with interesting food for lunch (or breakfast as someone suggested.) But do you really think we should not get massages on full tummies? Maybe if we got the pedicures and facials first?

Thanks for all the help, but could I have some more? lol! How much is valet parking at Grand Floridian?

If you're looking for breakfast, a fun one would be Cape May breakfast - it's a character breakfast or maybe Boma with it's unique tastes.

Then end with tea at GF would be great. I don't think you'd be out of place with capris and cotton tops. Remember, you're in Florida and you are at a theme park resort.

Dessert Lady is the name of the cafe. It is subtitled "Decadant Cakes and Wines". It is a real neat place. JudySue and I had been there many times, and when she was ill I would bring her desserts from there. After she died Patty asked me to bring one of Judy's hats, and it is hanging in a place on honor on a wall.

As long as it is not in use, Patty invites people to look at it. See the review referenced in a prior post.

If you are worried about the formality of the tea you should read this recent review i just saw http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=842587

This is more like other reviews i have read. Maybe your sister just caught a group of ladies who felt like dressing up for an occasion like a shower. They do alot of weddings nearby. I wouldn't worry, but if you still are you could hit France or Italy in Epcot and eat in the courtyards.
