Another quandry. I love the themeing, convenience of Disney Transportation, charging to your room etc of CBR, BUT I could stay in a one bedroom suite with kitchenette, 3 tv's etc at the Doubletree in DTD. So I now can't make up my mind if I want to trade the perks of CBR for the space at the Doubletree. The big problem is I haven't been able to get much feedback on the Doubletree Suites (tried the Orlando Hotel board), and certainly haven't found any pictures except those on their website. Can anyone help me out there? I would appreciate your feedback. Oh, and the CBR is $99 + tax (NC code) and the Doubletree is $143 + tax (AAA rate) in early April.

Thanks a lot!

We stayed at the Doubletree (it was back in '97 tho) at that time, it was great. We had a nice room and the ability to put the kids in the bedroom area and close the door was fantastic especially since we also had our infant in a pack and play. We liked the hotel area and being close to downtown Disney too. We had no real problems with the transportation however, the buses are for all of the hotels so several stops along the way. If we were in a hurry we drove our car or would use Disney transportation to DD and then walk to the hotel, not too far.

The kids liked the video game that was in the room (might have been nintendo then?) and the pool area w/jacuzzi. We were pleased. We didn't eat there tho so I can't comment on that.

I don't think you'll have as much "magic" feeling staying at Doubletree as u will at the CBR, when you stay at a Disney resort the magic seems to be all around you....your whole stay.....have you been to CBR? Its really beautiful and after staying on a disney owned property I will never stay off site again.

we have stayed at both. i would definetly choose crb. its nice
after you leave the parks to still feel like your in disney. when
i stayed at dbt i didn't feel disney at all. for example on the
night we checked in at dbt i went in the bathroom to show the
kids the tv, when i turned it on it was porn. needless to say
we didn't watch anymore tv that trip for fear what would be on.
crb has a wonderful food court with refillable mugs, a great pool
area, and much better transportation. my kids (3,5) had ALOT
more fun at crb(so did me and my husband). they have
beautiful paths to walk through at night, one night we all walked
out our room onto the beach sat in a hammock and watched
illuminations.it was the best part of the trip. the crb also has the
largest rooms of all the moderates.i'd be happy to answer any
questions you have.

If you have only one or two kids, the CBR for $99 sounds like a great deal! Most people have to spend way more to stay on-site.

We have three kids, and can only go into a WDW Deluxe resort that has a daybed, so we can't get as low a rate.

I've got the Doubletree booked for 5 nights. I like having the suite and low price of Doubletree (nabbed a rate of $119 by continually checking website - was originally booked at $143 too), but don't want to spend the whole vacation off-site.

What we save there will go toward the cost of staying on-site for our last 5 days ... YC!!! The room will be smaller, but at least we're getting a deluxe hotel on-site.

I could easily stay at Doubletree and save more money, but I figure since it's been 6 years since our last visit, and who knows when the next one will be, why not make the most of it?!

My wife and I stayed at the Doubletree from 2/14 - 2/17...was very nice...close to DD Disney and close to grocery stores and restaurants just outside Disney...the best of both worlds. Have never stayed at CB, so can't compare, but he niceties of a suite were great ! Try for a lower rate and got for the Doubletree.

I appreciate it so much. The reason I checked into the DBT was for space and a bedroom door, my kids are 20 mos and 5 and it's so nice to be able to put them to bed and stay up in the other room. I worry about how well everyone will sleep in the same room -BUT I have to say I'm pretty die hard Disney and missing the magic is exactly what bothers me. I stayed at CBR before I met my DH about 10 years ago and I actually don't remember it really well - so I'm trying to decide. I've got to say I'm start to lean towards CBR but I appreciate the replies and any more you all might have!

Thanks again!

CBR!!!!! haven't stayed there yet, but will be there may3-5. got a $94 rate! I haven't stayed at DT, but have stayed in three other hotels in DD and they are very nice. However, after staying at ASMO, I would not stay offiste again except in the case of an UNBELIEVALBE rate.. I would not give up the convenience of CBR , with the all the theming, food court, etc. for a suite offsite. I know people like to put their kids to bed early and all, but we have shared a room with our son and he never wakes up. we just try not to be too loud. Also, remember that kids are more tired at WDW and you will be too. My vote is for CBR!

With CBR its like getting a vacation in a vacation, because there are lots of other things to do at CBR, I don't know, to me staying at Doubletree would be like staying at any other hotel...I think the kids would enjoy CBR more as well....

Thanks everyone, I think we will probably stay with the CBR - especially with the $99 rate. I think I'll save the Doubletree for sometime when I can't get such a good rate at a Disney hotel. I'm going to check out that area a little when we are there.

Appreciate the input - have a good weekend!
