We had an ADR at 50s Prime Time and cancelled this for desert party. This was in reaction to reccomendations that we would not get there soon enough, or would have an obstructed view. Don't really care or are excited for prospects of desert party food as our meal. Our choices include:

- Get over it. Dessert party is your dinner. Go with meats, cheeses, flatbreads and deserts and drinks - and skip dinner. Cost for 3 people is about $200.

-Add an ADR much earlier and go to desert party afterwards. This will cost us $340.

- Go to counter service - maybe grab pizza or something on boardwalk at Epcot resort area before heading over to Studios.

- Cancel dessert party. Make an earlier ADR. Count on the fact that if we show up 30 minutes before star wars, as crowds shift prior to fireworks show, we fill find a spot that sees most of the screen....

Thanks in advance

I think you know the answer already and plan the vacation the way your family wants to do disney. It's your trip. Get yourself a great table service and enjoy yourself!

We loved the dessert party viewing spot and it was much easier than trying to fight the crowds for a spot. You do want to be to the spot early though- we went ahead of the stormtrooper escorted line so we had a spot at the front. It is great for me because I am short and having the handicapped section in front of us and a walking aisle gave me a buffer where I could see the show. I am one of those people that every time I plan and get somewhere early to get a good fireworks spot- someone steps in front of me at the last minute and either they are tall and I see their back and very little fireworks or they hold up an ipad to video the fireworks and I end up watching them on the ipad because it blocks my view. For my Star Wars fanatic DD and I, the dessert party was worth it for one time to get an unobstructed view for the fireworks. If you are one of those people that does well in getting fireworks spots generally and are happy with where you have been and can see the show, then the price of the dessert party might not be worth it for you. We would not have found enough to eat that we could have made a meal of it at the dessert party. I would say just grab something at counter service. I will say as far as 50s Prime Time, if there were recommendations you would have not gotten there soon enough you probably made the right decision in cancelling. The times we have eaten there, we have almost always had to wait long past our ADR time to get seated. Usually, we are at least 20 minutes past and I can recall one time it was 45 minutes and one time it was an hour.

We had an early 50s Prime Time dinner at about 3:30 pm, Then did FP attractions around Hollywood Studios and the the party, which opened at 6:45 if I recall correctly. It was plenty of time between to want to eat some snacks and have some drinks. There were two of us so we shared one entree, drink, and dessert. I would definitely recommend doing both if your family has no problem sharing entrees/shakes and skipping the sodas and other desserts for later when you go to the party.

The dessert party is great experience, and a great way to watch the fireworks without staking out a spot early. If it were my family, we would grab a late lunch/early dinner at a CS place and enjoy the dessert party.

We plan to grab an early dinner at PizzeRizzo on our dessert party night.

I agree that you know what is best for your family. My family is eating a late sit down lunch and then doing "dessert for dinner!" (with a few savories/fruit added in). This is part of the treat for my kids and definitely making it a special occasion

Had booked, cancelled. Arrived about 45-50 minutes early and had prime spot.

I would do late lunch ADR and just grab some snacks to eat while you hold your spots.
