Ohioan, how are you voting?

Ohioans-what voting procedure will you use this November?

  • machine, stand in line as usual

  • paper ballot at the polls

  • absentee

  • board of elections in person prior to 11/4

  • I'm not voting

Results are only viewable after voting.

It is said that the lines in Ohio will be miserable and that it will take approximately 12 minutes to vote. We all got absentee ballots this year and Boards of Elections are accepting walkins starting on September 30th. Are you going to trust the machines Diebold/Premier has now admitted are 'seriously flawed', vote absentee, ask for a paper ballot at the polls?

We have requested absentee ballots.

I did receive my application for an absentee ballot. I dont know what I am going to do. There is never any kind of line in the precinct that I vote in.

If everybody ops for absentee ballots, then there won't be any lines at all. In the State of Maryland, if you receive an absentee ballot, you are not eligible to come in and vote on election day. At the voting poll, election judges have no way of knowing whether or not you voted with your absentee balet. So therefore, you could actually be voting twice.

There are never any lines where I vote, but 12 mins. to me isn't "miserable". I've waited longer to get a burger. It's a privilege many shouldn't take for granted. I'll be "waiting in line."

Me too. DH and I waited about the same amt. of time in the last Presidential election. Not bad IMO.

I cannot speak for MD but in my state if you vote absentee and you are around on election day you are to report to the polling booth and vote. They cross all the absentee ballots with the voting record.

You are only allowed to vote absentee if you cannot get to your voting location.

I thought that was the rule in all states, but I could be wrong.

I will stand in line patiently, just like I do at WDW. This is too important a day, I want to be there, at the polling place, and vote.

I did absentee once, felt like I wasnt part of the action, I get there early and usually one of the first to vote, with the paper ballet

I don't know about the lines in your state. But the year that Jimmy Carter won the Presidency, I wanted in line for almost 2 hours to vote. Let's hope that this year's election is not that bad.

At my polling location here in Maryland during the last primary election, some people waited well over an hour to vote.

However, I would never, ever get out of line even if the line was long. In the 39 years that I have been voting, I have never missed voting in an election.

The rules for voting absentee in Ohio changed last year. You do not need to have a reason to vote absentee. ANYONE can submit an absentee ballot.

If for some reason you would show up at the polling place to vote on election day after requesting an absentee ballot, you would be allowed to vote, but it would be a provisional ballot.

I'm voting absentee this year. (To tell the truth, I think we'd be better off if we went back to a paper ballot and marked everyone's hand with a dye that can't be removed. )

I don't like the computer voting. Period. IMO, once it is done with computers, it is just a matter of who can cheat the best.

Absentee.
