I know a couple of you either live in or are from Ohio. I am in the process of looking for a new job. My company has been sold and I may or may not stay with the new company. So I am actively looking.
I have a possibility in Cleveland. I will be legally married, in New York to my partner in May. We have two children. They are my biological children and she legally adopted them with a 2nd parent adoption.
I'm pretty sure our marriage won't be recgonized in Ohio but I need to make sure that her adoption will be. I couldn't get a real clear feel from the HRC website on this. And wondered if anyone has personal experience with this. While the marriage not being recognized isn't a deal breaker, if my partner won't be recognized as the mother of her own children then that's a deal breaker.
It appears the state doesn't allow second parent adoption under their statute. What I'm unclear on is if they will Recognize DP as a legal parent since she's already listed on the birth certficates under our New York State adoption.
Thank you.
