What a tease

I'm so sad. I called first thing this AM to try and switch our reservation from VWL to the Grand Floridian through the Disney Collection. I know it's not the best use of points, but we have a few extra right now and I really wanted to surprise my mother by staying at the Grand Floridian for 2 days. She's dreamed of staying there ever since we started bringing her to DW with us.

The system showed availability when the CM checked for me and then in the time it took to have DVC contact whoever they contact to set up the reservation it vanished pooof ! She said the system had updated itself and she could not complete the reservation. Uggghhh !

I have been calling every hour or so to see if anything is available but no luck.

Anybody have any advice for me or know when the best time would be to call and look for availablilty within the Disney Collection ?

If it makes you feel better, my most disappointing Disney stay EVER was the GF. I had dreamed of staying there and found it to be much better as "fantasy' then reality! Someone descirbed it to me as "themed" deluxe. I think that's true. It's not a true deluxe hotel it's just themed like one. Service etc were on a par with your local Marriott which is a HECK of a lot cheaper LOL!

I don't have any advice, but I'll just commiserate with you. I called at exactly the 7 month window to add 2 nights to our BWV trip this coming Christmas/NY. We have a 2 BR reserved for 12/30 - 1/2, and want to add the nights of the 2nd and 3rd. She said they were available but something happened in the meantime and then "poof", they were gone. So, now we're on the waitlist.

It is so frustrating to have them tell you it's available and then in the matter of just a minute or two, it's gone.

I'm hoping some Pixie Dust comes your way and your wish can still come true. I've always wanted to stay at the GF, too. Maybe someday.........
