So we ate there last week while in the world . Uhhhh how can I say this without starting up a fresh batch of "NO WAY are you SURE ?" threads . I met the chef he is new to that place but has been cooking in WDW for 14 years.
THe bread is YUCK It had coconut in it I didnt like it at all and I looked around to see all the baskets really either picked at or not touched . They did away with the wontons , but replaced them with pot stickers and he told us that the night before was the 1st night and they were steamed and even he hated them . They had fried them the night we were there , those were YUMMO ! The salad is the same , the meats are the same the stir fry is gone replaced by Broc/peapods steamed. The Cheesy Potatos are on thier way out . He said that only the Bread Pudding is a SURE thing and that Disney is goign Healthy at most places they serve food at .

Also the buns at every place we ate even CASEYS had wheat buns I saw lots of kids throwing them away . We liked them though : )

Just thought I would let you all know the change I saw last week . It is now off my list of places to eat till they really figure out what they want to do . I was sad not as sad as when I gave up The BRown Derby but pretty sad LOL

I have heard this so many times that I am sure it's true. It makes sense with the removal of the deep-fried items (and the cheesy potatoes). There've been other table service restaurants that have been removing deep-fried items and replacing them with steamed, baked or pan-seared.

There have also been lots of posts about WDW going to all wheat buns.

I sure hope the potatoes stay, they sound delicious. I'll be thrilled with steamed broccoli and pea pods, though, over stir-fried!!

You know, if Ohana changes their menu too much I will choose not to eat there. I think if they oust the chicken wings it's all over for me.

As for Disney going healthy... this is my opinion, I eat very healthy through out the year... when I'm on vacation I wanna splurge. I want to be able to eat 18734197834 calories of potatoes or whatever. I think they should offer the option, but not completely eliminate the junk.

Wow, I guess we won't be eating at 'Ohana for our wedding reception. I'm so upset...

Totally agree with you! I really don't want to be told how to eat on vacation. They should just add some nutritional options for those that want it but to remove the cheesy potatoes is uncalled for. I love those potatoes. I might seriously have to knock Ohana off my list till they figure out their menu. How sad.

If they get rid of the potatoes I'm not going back. I love potato anything - baked, fried, cheesy - you name it. I made them at home because I loved them so much.

So the "Disney Food Police' feel it is their responsibility to determine my eating habits?

Will they soon decide when we get up?

When we go to bed?

How many Dole Whips you are allowed dependent on your age and body shape?

Maybe next they will crack down on men who wear black socks and sandals?

And don't even get me started on kids who laugh, run and play at the parks!!!

What do they think Disney is for us anyway? A vacation???

Not the potatoes!!! Those are our favorites. we will have to cancel our march ressie if there are no potatoes (not being sarcastic). so sad....

I'm going to send/e-mail a letter to guest relations about it. They probably won't do anything but it's worth putting my two cents in about it.

Just by reading the reviews on this board regarding this restaurant, I dont think we will be dining at Ohana's. Thanks for the info!

I completely disagree with the OP.
I ate there two nights ago and it was the best meal I've ever eaten in my life.
The bread was AWESOME. Fresh, sweet, lovely.
Then we got yummy chicken wings and I suppose they were pot stickers, but our waitress called them wontons? This was my first time there so I'm not sure if they're the same as before. They were deliscious though!
The meats were great, the dessert was great, and the environment can't be beat! I would highly recommend it!

I too think that Disney should simply allow for some healthier items to be added to the menu but for those of us who like our fried, cheesy, greasy, fattening, foods...we should not be denied them...vacation IS eating all of these things. To me if they continue to force...I mean help us :lmao: "eat healthier" they will start forcing me...I mean helping me :lmao: to make the decision to eat off property. I refuse to eat healthy while I am on vacation...sorry to all those health nuts out there, but it is true...and no, I am not simply saying this because I am a person who eats like this all of the time...I am 5'2" and 120 pds...not exactly overweight...but I do like my vacation splurges. :thumbsup2 Before I will eat "steamed" pot stickers, I will drive to The Outback Steakhouse and eat my "Deep-fried" onion! :rotfl: At least I know I will go back to the resort with a full, satisfied belly rather than wondering if I will be able to find enough at my next meal to fill me up. By-the-way...Ohana has been on e of our favorites in the past years...we especially liked the fried pot stickers, grilled shrimp (we liked the shrimp they have had the last few years too but not as well), and the grilled beef!

The menu changes aren't just at one single restaurant. They are occuring all over the place. Look at the kid's menus. Like I said, I eat healthy, and if I had kids, they would eat healthy, but on vacation let them have their gosh darn freedom fries and Coca-Cola.

I don't have a problem with offering white buns or multi-grain buns on their burgers. Let it be an option! You know they have offered at Columbia Harbour House an option of carrots or freedom fries. I always go and ask for the fries! I know I have the option for carrots, I just eat enough at home gosh darn it!

I have a ressie for Spring Break in March on Good Friday actually. if the potatoes are gone, i will seriously change it!! let me know if they respond and what they have to say! thanks!

Wow, seriously, if they make the menu that unappetizing, why spend the money there? I for one will be watching which direction this goes pretty closely.

Yeah, I mean I could see implementing changes slowly over the next few years - but I think such a drastic change with several items will upset people.

I do agree with saying that if you consider the menu unappetizing, don't eat there.

If the restaurant empties out, and they are made to understand that the menu change is the reason, they might change the menu back again. If it's still full, they won't.
