Ohanas??

We have 7:40 ADR there and the Wishes show is at 8. Will we be able to see it? Should we ask for a specific area or view? I'm so excited! :cool1:

Can anyone comment on what the seating arrangements are at Ohana's? My son and I will be dining there one night (Daddy arrives a couple days later) and I am wondering if we'd be in a booth or large table (since I read they serve family style) and my little guy would be sitting next to strangers.....hope they'll help him cut his meat LOL

You won't be seated with strangers. If it's just the 2 of you, you'll probably get seated at a small table. Family style means that the food is served on platters and in bowls for everyone to help themselves.

So if the music is piped in then you can see the show too? Should I request a window when we check in?

There were just the two of us in Nov 05 and we got a window table and we didn't request it. Everything was good, especially the potatoes and the banana bread pudding and of course the requisite Lapu Lapu. We were stuffed. We decided that was our favorite meal of the whole trip and we ate at Le Cellier too. We went out to the beach and watched the fireworks and electric water parade from there. We're going back in Nov 08 and that's where we'll eat our first night we arrive, before we even go to a park.

actually i would do Ohanas over San Angel Inn... now thats poor service. its a shame cause i love the interior but the cramped tables, poor servers, and mediocre food leave us always wishing for more.....

We loved 'Ohana! We were there with our 7- and 9-year-olds in January, and can't wait to go back when we stay at the Poly again next month. Service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the kids had the time of their lives. :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed it as well, you really need to go to the luau as well if you can swing it! It was great and many children at the earlier show. Tammy

I would suggest WCC. Short boat ride from MK over to WCC. Can be very fun to visit this amazing resort and dine in a fun place.

'Ohana is always interesting, some love it, others hate it, not alot in between.

I am in the camp of strong dislike. My DH will not consider going back. He thought the food was subpar. (He is a meat and potato guy and likes meat).

Everyone has different expectations and different experiences. If the place is on your list, give it a shot.

We have ADRs in May for Ohana and can't wait. We've never been there, but are very excited to try it. Don't let others influence your decision. You really need to try it out for yourself and form your own opinion. ;)

I was just at Ohana for dinner in October, and loved it. All of the food was very good, and the service was great.

Keep it, O'hana is awesome! I have never had a problem there, but I am very easy going and maybe do not get bothered easily. I think its awesome, love the food!

Here's what I've noticed about the reviews at Ohana.

They went through a spell where they were not so good, but I noticed that they got WORSE during the busiest times of the year over the past couple years. A LOT worse. Recently, they seem to be improving. I'm not sure if that's because they've "turned the corner" or they just do better during slower times. Or a bit of both.

We're there in early January. It was stupendous in january of '06 and was one of our "must go back" choices for this trip. The reviews gave us some worry, when making our ADR's back in June, but we decided to keep it, anyway. If they're as good this time as they were last time, they'll stay "on the list" for future trips.

San Angel:
Beautiful atmosphere. Awful service and bland food. Oh, and while I realize they're going for "romantic/atmospheric" with the lighting, all they're really doing is causing eye strain when trying to read the menus. It would be just as atmospheric and beautiful if they added a couple watts to the lightbulbs.

I've heard bad reviews of WCC, of late, as well.

Not the food (which has never been stellar, IMHO) but in the CM interaction and the "entertainment" going on in the room. Reports are that it's been drastically toned down, and, if that's true....we see no real reason to return. That was our favorite part....when our kids asked for ketchup, getting 30 bottle of ketchup on the table was hilarious family fun. So was the "straw box" hat our CM made for our daughter...out of, literally, an empty box of straws. That CM MADE her day. My wife SCRAPBOOKED that hat, it was so well loved on our trip. She liked it as much as her "gold" ears!

We chose to skip it this trip, to see if further reviews might change course. But so far, I'm seeing the same sorts of guest observations: The CM's aren't as animated or as interactive as were. We're considering WCC for our Dec '08 trip, but unless we hear more positive reviews, I think we'll skip it again. We'll see.

DW & I ate there July '07. I urge you to stick with 'Ohana. The food is very good & the atmosphere was nice too. Warning! Go hungry & be prepared to waddle out! :rotfl2: You will be stuffed!

Definitely worth a try! I think you will find good and bad reviews of any restaurant you name. We ate there in November and loved it! The food was great!:thumbsup2

Anyone know when the fireworks are in Jan. I’m just wondering if it will coincide with the ADR I made for my DD and I.

THANKS!
