We are staying for the first time in WDW at the Poly so I made reservations one night at Kona, Ohana, Naricoosees, San Angel, and Planet Hollywood. I have been reading that Ohana has poor service and food. Whats nearby our hotel at Poly that would be better. My kids are 9 and 10. :confused3

I love O'Hana. I have been about four times over the last couple of years and always had great food and service. I would stick with what you have. In the end, each and every restaurant at WDW will get good and bad reviews. If you change your ADR each time you see a bad one, you'll drive yourself crazy! The age of your kids is perfect for O'Hana as is the location given that you are staying at the Poly. Give it a try, you won't really know until you do!

Thanks for the sound advice. :thumbsup2

Ohana is our fave restraunt on property. We never miss eating there each trip. We do both breakfast and dinner when possible. I have heard of stories of bad service and food not being up to par. But we have never had any problems there. Service has always been good and the food yummy. Plus we love the view.

WE had a horrendous experience at Ohana last December and will not be going back, but as others have pointed out, YMMV. If I wanted to pick another place close to your hotel, I'd either try and get Chef Mickey's if you could, or maybe do the Rainforest Cafe at DTD.

We have a ressie at 'Ohana in 4 days. :cool1: :cool1: But, I have been really worried about ALL the negative reviews... they are everywhere! Has it really gotten that bad? I was last there 2 and a half years ago and it was great. :thumbsup2 I agree that each place gets it's share of good/bad reviews, but 'Ohana seems to really get slammed. :sad2: But, it mostly seems to be about feeling rushed out. Maybe there are ways to get your server to slow down?:confused3

We were there last December for breakfast and it was yummy. Service seemed pretty good too from what I remember. I don't remember feeling rushed out but we have a young son (14 months at the time) so we don't tend to linger long when we eat out as it tends to lead to meltdowns and mass destruction.:stitch:

We love going to 'Ohana for dinner. We have been several times and haven't had any problems with the food or the service. The fact that you usually can't get an ADR two weeks ahead shows that several people are still going there.

Ohana does seem to be lately have inconsistent reviews, which is not always the sign of a good restaurant.. I have had decent meals there in the past..

My fave restaurant on property is Citrico's at the Grand Floridian resort and not far from where you are staying.. it is not open all nights and you might want to check the menus before thinking about it:

I think every restaurant tends to go through a dry spell, where the service or food isnt as good as expected. With that said we have experienced both sides of Ohana. But I will add that the good has outweighed the bad. We were there back in June and service and food were both excellent. It has become our meal that starts every trip now. I would go with what you have on ADRs. As the 1st poster said, you will drive yourself crazy on changing everytime you see something negative. I say go for it!!

We usually eat there every trip. We were last there in May.
It's always been good. I never felt rushed - although to be fair we don't allow ourselves to be rushed. We just eat at our own pace.

The food has been fine. The service has been fine. The view is beautiful.

We have had problems being seated - losing our ADR once we check in, etc., but it's always taken care of.

We did the breakfast and the dinner on our wedding/honeymoon trip back in June. Both were outstanding. No issues with the food or the service.

Our party of 7, ranging in ages from 11 to 50ish, had dinner at Ohana's last week.

Hands down, it was the BEST food/service out of the 6 table service ADR's that we had at WDW!

We were seated promptly at the large round table in the corner overlooking the Castle at MK.

Our wait staff (head server and assistant server) were AWESOME! We were on the free dining plan and were still treated as if we were royalty.

The food was out of this world good! The appetizers were simply amazing...ate too much of them and almost couldn't squeeze in the main courses! The banana bread pudding w/ ice cream was fabulous and I don't even like banana!!!

The atmosphere was fun, inviting and relaxing. You could be as involved in the extra activities as you wanted. I (36) and DS 14 and family friend 14 all got up and did the hula. The coconut races were hysterical!

Next time we will try the breakfast but will definitely book dinner too!

Ohanna's is our only "repeat" for EVERY trip. food and service has always been TOP TOTCH. One piece of advice that may help is to let your server know whether you want a slow meal or a quick meal. It is a lot of food served in several courses and it helps your server to know when you want to go on to the next course. our server in jan asked if we knew how the meal flowed. Because we did he simple told us to let him know when we were ready for the next food item. He was always close by when we needed him.
He told us that many people complain of being rushed but if you leave an item too long that people tend to fill us before the meats and then complain that they are too full:confused3 . Give it a try.

We had a blast at O'hana. The kids loved that they could get up and do activities. We mostly eat vegetarian and when I told the waiter he sent out Mr. Young Cute Chef who suggested he'd grab some tofu and whip up something special. It was marvelous. One of the best meals on the 10 night trip. So if you do go, say hello to Mr. YCC for me.

Spell it with me now everyone 'Ohana :)

Sorry, go about your day...

Can anyone comment on what the seating arrangements are at Ohana's? My son and I will be dining there one night (Daddy arrives a couple days later) and I am wondering if we'd be in a booth or large table (since I read they serve family style) and my little guy would be sitting next to strangers.....hope they'll help him cut his meat LOL

I may have to switch to a vegetarian lifestyle before we go in November so I can check out Mr. YCC for ya! :thumbsup2

I'm also curious about the seating, as I'll be dining there alone with my DD9 for breakfast.

We wouldn't miss Ohana! We've never had bad service or bad food. The bread pudding with bananas foster sauce is my favorite dessert in all of WDW! We have an ADR there in Oct, and besides Boma, it's the one place my family won't miss.:)
