i wanted to eat at ohana's for my birthday. the only issue, my mom is allergic to shellfish. has anyone else had a problem with this? the shrimp look so good and i love shrimp. i was wondering if the same person brings the skewers around and how to avoid the shrimp touching any of her stuff. or is this a meal i should skip?

When you check-in at the podium make sure to tell them of the seafood allergy. And then tell your server again. One or both of these people should be able to confirm that the chef will ensure that your mom's food will be kept separate and not risk any cross contamination.

We do not have this issue in our family but I have seen many other families mention it, and even saw how this was handled for some guests at Cape May.

I think you should also call back and ask to have it noted on your ADR.

Have a great birthday dinner! :thumbsup2

I know where you are coming from, only I am the one with the shellfish allergy. I always have it noted on my ADR's and they have been great about it. The Chef will come out and ask if you can have it on the table at all and they will also go over things with you. I am pretty sure they do not cook on the same grills, that is what it looked like last time we were there. I am also worried, since the shrimp is now on a spit and not in a bowl, but they seem to be very carefull with things. Hope this helps.

I have a shellfish allergy and eaten at Ohanas.Be sure to tell disney dining when you initially make the ressie, then remind the podium cm, the server etc.I had no problems, but I brought my epi pen in case.

thanks so much for the replies. i will notate on the ADR.

Daughter and I are both highly allergic to all sea food - and I am so bad that I can't even touch it

For dinner at Ohana - I had it noted on our ADR, also noted that it was there when we checked in at podium, and I also noted it with our server

Everytime any waiter came by our table they would dump shrimp on our plates, so we pushed those plates away - and we would have to ask for a clean plate - we would say NO SHRIMP - ALLEGRIC - the wait staff would just dump shrimp and run it got so bad -I had to go get management

Doubt we would go back there
