Ohanas Scalloped Potatoes!

Sorry......my whole family LOVES the noodles!:love:

We get at least 3 refills of the noodles and that still doesn't seem to be enough. :lmao:

When we were there last year for mine and my daughters birthdays, I asked where the potatoes were. When the waitress told me they were gone from the menu I told her that was a "bummer". 5 minutes later she returned with a copy of the recipe and said "Happy Birthday"! :woohoo:

That is awesome!!!! Just one more reason to LOVE DISNEY!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I am baking the potatoes right now. I got the recipe from Coral Reef, the potatoes are almost identical.

After checking my cream carton, cheese labels, no trans fat in either. This recipe is trans fat free so that isn't a reason why Disney dropped them. Now transfat free doesn't mean fat free.

After we made the recipe after our NYE trip this year, all we can say is why did you drop these? They are cheap to make, they are tasty and people loved them. Who knows.

Coral Reef Potatoes

Russet Potatoes sliced thin
1 large onion sliced thin (I dice it)

Layer potatoes then onions , kosher salt -- heavy on the salt,
after pan is full, top all with cream.

Bake at 350 until potatoes are done. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, return to oven to let cheese melt then let stand for a bit before serving.

YUM I used a glass 9 x 13 baking pan. Greased it. I don't oversalt. Notice no extra thickener is used, no flour no cornstarch. The potato starch is the natural thickening agent.

Now it is transfat free but not fat free. Eat in moderation as "they" say.

My Husband and I loved the potatoes. We ate more of those than anything else. yummo!! I wish they would bring them back. I hate noodles. Bring back the good stuff. I have the recipe for the potatoes too but it takes like 3 hours to bake, for the potatoes to get soft. The one hour is not enough when I first made it. Still, ohana's was better than homemade. :(

Ingredients

1 pound Russet potatoes (washed and sliced)

1 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup cheddar cheese

2 tbsp parmesan cheese

1/4 cup thinly sliced sweet onions

1 tsp kosher salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a greased baking pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Let stand five minutes before serving.

Thank you, I'll have to try these one day! :cool1:
Doesn't sound like there's any transfat in the recipe though?

not trans fat then - but that's an awful lot of cream and cheese for an all you can eat dish (for a company that's expressed its concern about convincing the powers that be that they can be "healthy" for guests). Scalloped potatoes don't fit with the theme either.
