That is too bad about the service
As a former waitress I can tell you women were usualy the best tippers after young (20's) people! People having just drinks were great too (sometimes 100% tip.) This was common knowledge among the wait staff too. We always said be very nice to the wife/girlfriend she decides what the tip is
