Ohana's or Hoop Dee Doo?

Man, planning meals for this Dining Plan is a little stressful!

Myself, DH, and our 4YO DS will be in WDW 12/9-12/15. (So excited about going during Christmas!). I have decided on most of our dining and am getting ready to make my ADRs tomorrow.

On the day that we do Epcot, we are planning on leaving the park to eat. Not that we didn't want to eat there, we just have so many places that I had to cut something out. Anyway, I am trying to decide between Ohana's and Hoop Dee Doo (if we can even get resies). We have never been to either, so I don't have any past experience to base my decision on.

What would you guys suggest?

My DH and I went to Ohana in May and, in retrospect we both think we should have gone to HDD. We had heard that the food at Ohana was excellent, service was marvellous, etc. Not so much. Dinner was just ok (dessert was fabulous though) I know that my 8 and 3 yo DS's would not have enjoyed this meal. Approach your decision with an open mind and enjoy whatever your choice !

I'm glad I don't have to make this choice...we do both every trip, our top two dinner priorities. I'd have to go with HDDR if I had to pick just one, especially with the 4yo.

I would do Hoop Dee Doo over Ohana.
My DS 13 and DS 12 and I absolutely love HDD - laugh out loud campy fun, very decent (and plentiful) food and drink and Fort Wilderness is a great place to hang out and explore. We had a blast!
We went to Ohana last year as well. I love the Poly's atmosphere, lighting, the fireworks etc...but the meal was just so-so for us. Certainly not the rawkous good time we had at HDD.

Another vote for the Hoop Dee Doo. My kids always enjoyed it, and I loved watching their belly laughs The food is pretty good, too. (I am also one of the few that is less than impressed with 'Ohana.)

Hoop de doo Hoop de doo definately definately hoop de doo. On our last trip we did both it was me, dh, dd2, 2211, and bil 13 at the time and we all had a blast. When I gave them the choice to pick one restaurant to return to on this trip Hoop de doo got the vote by all. We will be there for dh's 30th birthday on 12/1

You can't even compare the two. 'Ohana is great place to eat and very unique - if you like grilled meats especially and it's a neat setting. We've eaten dinner there on 3 of the past 5 trips and it's been a great experience each time.

My opinion of HDD is less than stellar. My opinion of the food is that it is atrocious for the price (or credits) you pay. The show is too hokey and corny for me. I personally think HDD is abysmal, but I will give in that it is insanely popular for some reason.

Thanks, guys. I think we are going with Hoop Dee Doo. Maybe we can squeeze Ohana's in somewhere, too. If not, we will make sure we go there next trip.
