Which do you like better? Do both have good food and a nice atmosphere? Would one or the other be better for a 5 year old and a 2 year old?

I wish we could do both, but I am afraid money and time will both be limited!

Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

Well, food wise, I think Boma wins hands down. BUT....for kids, Ohana's is great. Boma may be boring for them, but there are a lot of things to do and see around the AKL either before or after your meal.

Sorry I couldn't be much help. Boma is my favorite restaurant on WDW property.

I thought the last menu sounded great. Now I am not so sure about 'Ohana's. Some of the posts regarding the new food didn't sound so great. :guilty:

We loved both but I think the kids would pick 'Ohana's. The food was excellent. It was right there at the table, so we didn't have to make numerous trips back and forth to a buffet with them. It was a nice just to eat and have someone else do the work (all of our other TS meals were buffets). The kids enjoyed the coconut "race" and other activities.

I had a drink from the bar (I can't remember the name of it, but it came in a pineapple--I learned about it here) maybe that's why I was so relaxed.

Boma, however, has a ton of desserts to choose from.

Oh, that dining plan was awesome!

We actually ate at both places when our kids were 5 & 2 also.
We liked both 'Ohana and Boma (preferring 'Ohana a little more) but the kids liked 'Ohana much better.

Like both, but Boma is our favorite of the two. :earsboy:

The food at Boma is definitely better. We don't have kids yet, but I could see kids enjoying the activities at 'Ohana. The food is not that great at 'Ohana, especially compared to Boma. DH and I love Boma.

wildernesslodgelover- Lapu Lapu! That's it! We had such a great time that night. Everyone was happy :cool1:

Both restaurants are awesome. You can check out the menus at allears.net. For 'Ohana this will show you the normal menu, but it says "alternative childrens selections available on request". Boma has lots of kid choices on the buffet like chicken tenders, spaghetti or rigatoni, and pb&J. 'Ohana has the fun kid activities within the restaurant. Boma doesn't offer any activities for the kids, but you would have a chance before or after your meal to view the animals on the savannah. They have a set of night vision goggles they let guests use, which is a lot of fun.

Thanks to everyone! ::MinnieMo Now I am thinking 'Ohana followed by watching Wishes on the Poly beach would be fun! Maybe we will just have to try to do both since so many love the food at Boma!

i'd say Ohana's would be more fun for kids..the meal was so so imo but we canceled our boma res. for dinner after the breakfat was a big disappointment, the food was good enough just not different so i can't comment on boma food for dinner

Personally I would choose Ohana over Boma. I went to both this past trip (just returned this morning) and Boma was a bit of a let down. Maybe Boma was having an off night, but it was only ok.

My kids enjoyed Ohana, and we did as well.

I love Boma -- but Ohana has more kid friendly fare....

Kids will like the hula hoop contest and the push coconuts with a broom race, etc.

Ask to be seated in the "main" dining area vs. around the corner near the front.

You can't lose either way. Boma has a kids food bar... but Ohana probably is better.
