Hi All!

Which restaurant is better? In reference to:

Atmosphere
Food Quality
Service
Value

Also is Ohana's an all you can eat place?

Thanks All!
Brunette :boat:

Atmosphere -- 'Ohana is more oriented toward families with small children. At breakfast there are characters and at night it is noisy with lots of games. Boma is more for the adult taste.

Food Quality -- Unless you are used to African food, Boma will definitely be a new experience. 'Ohana is more traditional.

Service -- In 'Ohana you are served, and refills will be brought of anything you ask for. Boma is more of a traditional buffet, with the servers handling beverages and cleaning away empty plates, etc.

Value -- YMMV. If you are from the DC metro area you will consider both good values. If you are from Washington County you will get sticker shock.

'Ohana is all you can eat. They will bring you appetizers and other items first. They will come around with various meats on skewers and transfer the meat to your plate. They will bring refills of any of the foods, including the meats.

Wow! Thanks for your extensive Review. Since it will be my boyfriend and I maybe I should apt for BOMA. I know the prices are $24.99 p.p plus tax and tip. We alway are open minded to tasting new and exotic foods from around the world...

We're not interested in the character breakfast, just a romantic, quiet time with a good atmosphere and relaxing.....

Again, I really appreciate your time on this. Thanks again!

We loved Ohana's. Atmosphere was fine. Yes there were kids, but the entertainment for them kept them pretty active and busy, so not much fussing or crying heard. It was fun to watch, but we have 2 kids, so that might make a difference. Service was awesome. We had to keep telling them no at the end of the evening-they kept wanting to bring more food and more pineapple at dessert time. We were stuffed. So the value was great too. Where else can you eat all the shrimp, steak, pork, and turkey you want along with great appetizers for about 25.00 a person. This includes drinks (nonalcohol). The salad was awesome. Honey lime dressing just made it. Food quality was great too. Steak was a bit on the fatty side, but I just cut that part off and asked for more. We are planning on going back in August to take our kids.

That's sound delicious also! They have entertainment there??? Also, are you at a table with other people, (at large table) or does every family have their own table...? The food sounds good too! I've heard great reviews about both places BOMA and Ohana's. Do you think it would be better to go for a late dinner (maybe less children).

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, they are very much appreciated. We may have to go to both restaurants...LOL!

Also is Ohana's an all you can eat place? YES

We ate at both on our last trip. Boma was ok, but it is a buffet and Ohana is an all you can eat where they bring it to you....do they consider that family style? Not sure :) Anyways, we did really enjoy Ohana's...great food, wonderful service, and the atmosphere is very fun.

We loved Boma's and had a very nice meal. We have not tried Ohana's yet and are going to be trying it in April.

I lke 'Ohanas but LOVE Boma.
Atmosphere: with Boma you can walk around after dinner and see the animals. There are guides to tell you all about the animals as well.
Value: toss-up
Service: it depends. But since you get your own food at Boma, it is less server dependent
Qualty: "Ohanas is good but there is so much variety at Boma. Also, the desserts at Boma are great! (You get pineapple with runny caramel sauce at "Ohanas.

I do'nt think you can go wrong with either, we enjoy them both. However, If it was just my husband and I,I would go to Bomas.I think there is more selection and I love the atmosphere. Enjoy witch ever you choose! :Pinkbounc

Brunette - where are you staying? How convenient will these two restaurants be?
I have had dinner 2 or 3 times at Boma and once at 'Ohana. I love them both but I can assure you that 'Ohana is not "quiet and romantic". I went with a big group last Spring Break and we actually felt bad for the couples that were ther - potentially honeymooning! The food was delicious and it is a very fun place but it was WILD!
Have you considered Jiko at AKL? It's more expensive but would be scrumptious and VERY romantic, especially if you ask to be seated in the "wine room".
Good luck!
My vote would be for Boma...

Our evening was not wild at all. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary. We had a great seat by the window with a gorgeous view of the castle. Wishes was very late that night, so didn't get to see that. There was entertainment, but nothing too obnoxious. Of course we have kids, so we thought the games with the kids looked cute. We were there on a Sunday night later in the evening, so maybe that made a difference. Granted the place is not the intimate, romantic place that some restaurants are, but when you look at food, service, value, it is top on our list.

Thanks Everyone for posting there comments! I had no idea you can see the fireworks (wishes) from Ohana's. If we have a late dinner maybe we can see them....I take it we have to ask for a window seat...That's great to know. As far as entertainment, what exactly is it? Dancing? Singing? Torch blowing? lol!

To the above poster, we are staying in a private villa about 10 minutes from WDW, the Polynesian is probably easier access because of the monorail, but I still want to see and go to BOMA's. :D I know we're going to end up going to both places I'm sure.....

All of your comments are very appreciated....Thanks so much!!

We love both of them. Ohana would probably be our first choice, but we have kids. We've had a view of the fireworks. The meat was fantastic both times we ate here! The entertainment we saw was a lady playing ukelale(sp?) and singing. The kids had hula-hoop contests and coconut races. You can walk down on the beach after dinner and watch the water parade and fireworks. At Boma, you can walk around and see the animals. You will enjoy either.

Boma and 'Ohana are two of our favorite restaurants. We've done both multiple times. But if I was only able to go to one, I would go to Boma. I love the food so much more, and the AKL is a gorgeous setting.

Boma and 'Ohana are 2 of my favorites as well. I'd really try to go to both, but if I could only do one, I'd probably go with Boma just because I can't get that kind of food at home. Both are excellent. You'll have a delicious meal no matter which you choose.

These were our 2 favourites last trip.We went early to Ohana's (5:00) and found it was quiet. We loved the decor and view of the castle. Food was great and we enjoyed being served. We also enjoyed Boma and it is worth the trip to explore the AKL. Lots of interesting new dishes. We will be going to both again in March! :Pinkbounc

Hi,

I've only tried Boma & loved it!!!!! It is worth it. Their breakfast is great too. P.S. for both & I don't think you'll be disapointed!

Allison

I have been to them both. I would do boma for breakfast and Ohana for dinner, the dinner at Ohana is magical, especially when wishes starts, they turn off the lights and the music turns on from the magic kingdom. Try to request a table for good viewing location of wishes. :earboy2: :earsboy:

OHana---

We ate at both but the kids enjoyed Ohana more as Boma had "diiferent" items (my kids said weird stuff).

I liked them both but won't go to Boma again.
