'Ohana's Dinner - Love it or Hate it Poll

How do you feel about 'Ohana

  • LOVE IT! My life would be crushed if they ever closed.

  • Eh So-So! I enjoyed it but probably wouldn't return.

  • HATED IT! I felt like I wanted to beat Mickey Mouse over the head by the end of my meal!

I always see posts about this place but I wanted to get opinions on a poll to see number for number who feels what about it....

My DH and I have been to Disney several times, and have only recently gone to 'Ohana's for dinner. We LOVED it, and wondered why we hadn't tried it before. It was so different and fun. Plus the food was wonderful! :) This will definitely be a must do for us during each future trip!

We had always wanted to try this place and finally did it last trip - and we probably won't go back. The food was ok, but all-you-can-eat and buffets are a waste of $$$ for us with the kids. The meat was a little dry, the shrimp was a pain that you had to peel it (lazy, yes I know..) but it was decent. I LOVED the pineapple and caramel sauce for dessert! Certainly worth a try for everyone.

Chose "Love it", but my life wouldn't be crushed if it went away. It's a good place to eat though.

It was nice to do once. If you are a real "meat" lover you will love it. We like the side dishes. If you have kids they will like the games. If you don't have kids, the games can be annoying if your in the line of fire. (getting run into, bumped, etc...). It is very pretty in the resturant, and service is nice. :sunny:

I'm in the "glad we did it, but won't be going back" group. I can see where people with certain tastes in food would love this place, but it wasn't for us. There were some great things here, like the pineapple-coconut bread (yum!!) and the pineapple and caramel (yum again!!). But we really aren't big eaters, and our kids are too old for the games here, so I didn't feel like the expense (our most expensive meal of the trip) was worth it for us.

We liked it alot, but I agree my life would not be crushed if they closed.

I agree with the comment about having your table in the "line of fire" of the games. As soon as they let the coconut race take off, two little boys crashed into my table, knocking over my lapu lapu (alcohol drink in a pineapple, strong, but good). Well, our waiter offered to get me a new one. Shortly later, I saw him bringing me my Lapu Lapu, and watched as he dropped it on a guys lap at the table next to me (the guy did get his meal for free though). The waiter comes over to me, and asked if I really wanted another one, or if it was okay for him just to take it off my bill. I said he could take it off, so in the end I got about 3 free sips out of a Lapu Lapu.

I wasn't thrilled. I thought some of the food was dry. I might try it again because so many have such good experiences. We didn't eat much and I didn't think it was worth the price.

I've heard so many say the old Papeete Bay Veranda was better. I like to see 'Ohana stay, but wouldn't miss it terribly if it were replaced by another quality restaurant.

I go each vacation but wouldn't be crushed if they closed. The food is OK (for Disney). :D

O'hanas was one of the highlights of our trip, a place I'd like to make a staple for every future trip. Well worth the $$$ and we were treated to a light show of the castle! The food was excellent! No dry meat at our table! We splurged and bought the slushees in a bucket and my kids' eyes nearly bugged out of their heads. They thought they'd died and gone to heaven.

I have to agree with an earlier poster that if your table is in the line of fire of the coconut games, the whole dining experience could be spoiled. Fortunatley, we were by the window with a great view!

Since we had an early seating, we wandered to the dock afterwards and watched Wishes. Magical!

A must do on our trips. And the backscratchers (tropical drinks that come with a wooden backscratcher in the glass) are good!!

Nothing dry. Excellent steak, turkey and awesome shrimp which I ate a ton!!! The appetizers were also very good. Gotta love those pineapple drinks!!!

the food was pretty good not wonderful, most of the problem was we don't eat enough to make any WDW buffet ( except trail's end or wcc breakfast ) worth the money. husband didn't care for the shrimp ( too spicey for him) and the steak was a little tough. the salad and wings were great. the rice so so. also it is definetly more family oriented. i kind of felt we were stuck out of the way like second class citizens with just hubby and i, even our waiter kind of ignored us in favor of larger tables. ( ie waited and waited and never got a second cup of coffee, had to about wrestle him to the floor to get our pineapple ect.)

and erikthewise, the old Veranda had the "best" breakfast character meal I have ever gone to..lavish is the only word for the food and still remember chip and dale pushing my husband and kids around the rest. in their chairs

MosMom - You really need a 4th choice "Enjoyed it & will probably go back again."

However, DH is in the "LOVE IT! My life would be crushed if they ever closed" category. He wanted to go back a second time during our one week visit. :p He and DS-11 are big meat eaters & had a blast. DD-9 could have lived off of the wontons all week. I also enjoyed the sides more so than the meat. However, the view of MK with the castle changing lights (the parade showed twice that night) & the invitation from our cousin to go to the beach & enjoy the fireworks afterwards was a great bonus. ::yes:: Yay on the pineapple with caramel though. YUM!
