I have planned for us to go to MNSSHP the same night we were planning on Ohana's. Our ADR's are at 5:30....Do you think I would be pushing it by trying to eat at Ohana's and then go to MNSSHP? Would it be better to try and find somewhere else to eat or an earlier time to eat?

I ate at Ohana's and then went to MNSSHP and it worked out great!
Ohana is one of my favorites, tied with Kona and Tutto Italia. I'm actually planning on doing Ohana and MNSSP again this year. We got a 5pm both times, that helps with not having to wait long to be seated since they are just opening. At 5:30pm it could be the same scenario or maybe some of a wait which could be bad. Atleast the food comes quick and you dont have to wait on that part. I think 5:30pm would be the latest time i'd keep. Were you able to get an earlier time? Maybe plan on getting there a little early and ask if it's possible to seat you early. Also, let the waitress/waiter know that you're in a bit of a hurry, that could help speed things along. I was contemplating on whether i should eat at a MK place since everyone's advice was to get there at 4pm, but i REALLY love Ohana's, so i plan to be at the MK in the morning and this would be our break, then go back around 6:30pm. I say keep your ADR, Ohana's is great!! Just be early:thumbsup2

It really depends on how much time you want to spend at the party.

You can get in for MNSSHP around 4:00 and after. At 7:00 there is quite a rush and line to get in. So figure if you eat at 5:30- you really won't be getting in until sometime around 7:00. Again, if this really isn't a big deal, then the ADR will work out fine! Time does go quickly at the party, so I guess that's why I always have our big meal at lunch that day and just have a quick CS dinner in the MK later that day (usually around 5:00).

Have a great time no matter what you decide!

I found that a big meal before the party (and Ohana is a BIG meal) really slows us down. We don't want to do as much because we are so full it takes a while for us to get into the swing of things.

What works for us is a table service lunch around 1:30 - 2:00 then hit the park at 4pm (with our party ticket), see those attractions that are not open during the party, and then at 7pm we start with the party stuff.

When we're hungry we just have counter service or snacks.

one other thing to consider is that Ohana seems to regularly experience delays in seating people. So even with a 5:30 ADR, you may not get seated until after 6. We've gone there twice with a 5:30 ADR and had that happen.

We're going to MNSSHP on Sept. 22nd and we have a 5pm ADR for 'Ohana. We don't mind if we get into MK after 7pm because we're planning to stay until the end of the party.

We have an ADR for 5pm at 'Ohana before MNSSHP. It was the only time that I could get and I figured, we'll check in early and hope to be at the party before 7. If I were you, I would check in early and try to get seated early. I thought 5pm was pushing it.
