Breakfast or dinner????
Which is better?

Hi,

We just got back from disney and went to the Ohana dinner for the first time. Here's my 2 cents....

We were seated on the back side )with a wall divider) near a window. The view was nice, but we couldn't see any of the cute things that were done during dinner (coconut races, etc.) When we sat down, our waiter talked faster than anyone I had ever heard...I managed to get in a question about alternate food for our 5 year old daughter and was told "We expect that they will try the food first." I was put off by that...who is he to decide what my daughter will try and what she wont. I let it go...food started coming and it was good.--some excellent We had a different waiter who brought the food and he was much more pleasant. My daughter did eat some of the food, but also ended up with a hot dog (at the suggestion of waiter number 2).

Overall...I thought the food was good...service not great....atmosphere not great but would have been better if we were on the other side of the room....and felt VERY rushed. I wouldn't go again.

My 2 cents.

Lisa

When you call to make ADRs for Ohana can you put a preference on your reservation (you want to sit by the pit??)

Thanks all. Leaning towards breakfast but not sure yet. Thanks for all the input.

Too fast, I agree. Had wonderful food Christmas week and a really bad server. Complained about the speed (45 minutes) and the attitude of the waitress. Money was refunded and server was corrected. Overall, it was fixed feelings. If only you could sit and relax and enjoy your dinner.

We had the character breakfast there our first morning (in January). Next January we're going to breakfast AND dinner there. We're staying at the POLY. The character breakfast there was the perfect way to start our WDW vacation.

We stayed at the Poly and ended our trip there with the breakfast. LOVED it! We will definitely do it again. The characters look so cute in their Hawaiian attire!

We also did dinner there. I enjoyed the whole entertainment part, limbo, hula lessons, etc. but it was too much meat for me. I did love the shrimp, Lapu Lapu served in a pineapple (dangerously potent though!), and the "extras", just not all the meat. I don't know if we'd do dinner again, but not because we had bad service or the food was bad. In fact, our waiter was great and offered my kids different choices. And we walked down to the beach and watched the fireworks after dinner.

So I guess if I had to pick, I'd choose breakfast, but I think you would enjoy the atmosphere of either.

Angie
