O'Hana without ADR.. is it possible?

We'd really like to go to O'Hana for dinner but it's all booked out during our upcoming trip. The only available times are 9:40-ish pm. Since we won't stay at Polynesian, going back to our resort can be a bit of a hassle (most parks will be closed by the time we're done with our dinner).

So now, is it possible at all to go to O'Hana without an ADR and just brave out the wait? Has anyone done it before? Or does the restaurant usually turn away walk-in's?

Any input is appreciated.

I would suggest you get there early,
Get drinks and get a table in the lounge, since they do not charge a fee up front for Ohauna's there are usualy people that don't show up. Try being there by 5-5:15, that is early for allot of folks and gets you up front on wait list, if it does not conflict with prior plans maybe even get there around 4:30 or so.

Good luck we love O'hauna's

You certainly can try, most likely you won't be able to get in. So think about Kona's as a backup however, with the dining plan, most places are very busy and you may have trouble getting in there. It depends alittle on when your going, you didn't say.

We're going in 2 days and stay for 6 nights. I just made an ADR for 9:30 pm on our last night at WDW, so hopefully it's a perfect time to watch Wishes (which starts at 10 pm on that night).

Yes, Kona would be our backup if this plan fails or if the kids (4 y.o and an infant) don't cooperate with such a late dinner. Or we can always wing it and come in at 7-8 pm to see if we can be seated without an ADR.

We had ADR at Ohanas for one night. The family loved it so much they wanted to go back another night but we didn't have ressies. We got there early - had to wait about 1 1/2 hours, but everyone was willing and we had a great time AND a great dinner.

We saw several families turned away from 'Ohana in March.
The hostess said that the best bet was to show up just as the restaurant opened at 5pm and ask to be put on a wait list. You may have to wait a long time....or you might luck out and get right in. If you show up later.....you will be turned away.

In mid April a friend and I put didn't have a seating but left our names at the podium AS SOON as someone showed up to set up for the evening. We were seated within fifteen minutes of opening, but were told there was no guarantee we would be seated. I'm sure it depends on the day, your party size, etc.

Good luck!

About the transportation issue ..

You can always take a cab back to your resort.. it isn't much. Also, you can catch the bus to DTD til after midnight and transfer there to your resort's bus.

Last Sept during the free dining promotion they were turning people away (as were most TS restaraunts).

The last time we went without an ADR, we were turned away. We arrived at 5:00 and they said they weren't taking people. The next time we went with an ADR, they were still turning people away.

When were at WDW in Nov 05, we went to at least two of our ADR's at least an hour before the ADR, and we were seated right away. So, I would keep the 9:30 ADR at O'Hana, show up at 8 or even 7:30 (if that is when you really want to go) bring activities for the kids to do if you have to wait, and keep your fingers crossed!!! Good luck.
