Ohana with severe peanut allergy?

DS was recently diagnosed with severe PN allergy. In the past we have eaten at Ohana dinner and DH really wants to do it again this trip. Now that we know more about our son's allergies I am hesitant to do this, especially as my DS has gotten hives from secondary contact to both PN and TN (he is also TN allergic). Any advice? Thanks

We successfully dined at Ohana with pn/tn and shellfish allergies. My daughter is contact sensitive to peanuts, but she didn't have any problems. Make sure you note the allergies on your ADRs. At the restaurant, remind again at check-in and alert the server if he/she doesn't mention it. A chef will come to your table and discuss the menu and how your son can be accomodated. In our case, we didn't get the peanut sauce. They didn't have the noodles when we went, which I believe contain peanut butter. If you're not comfortable having them on the table, ask for an alternative side dish. My kids were also offered options from the Kona kids menu. The bread pudding wasn't safe, so the chef brought out giant bowls of ice cream for the kids instead.

Have the allergies noted on all ADRs at Disney. There are lots of things with cross-contamination issues and hidden allergens. The chefs do a great job keeping people safe as long as they know about it. Also, if you eat at CS, let the order taker know, so ingredients can be checked.

Our oldest also has a severe peanut allergy our solutions are
A. Don't go. Yes, Disney is great with allergies but this one makes me REALLY uncomfortable. Its not worth it IMO.
B. Neverland Club. That is was we did last trip. Girls had a fantastic time and we had a great adult only meal.

. . . my DS has gotten hives from secondary contact to both PN and TN . . .

1) I would be afraid (maybe terrified) for the little one.
2) WDW does a great job of preparing food for allergies, especially at TS's.
3) But, they cannot prevent secondary contact. *
. . . no way to stop people nearby from have food with nuts
. . . no way to stop people nearby from eating nuts they bring into the eatery
4) Better to go to an eatery with little or no nut menu items.

* In situations like riding airplanes, the crew can request other passengers
not to open/eat peanuts and can eliminate serving them during the trip. But,
it is almost impossible to prevent actions by others in an eatery.

we had to make an ER visit after grandson reacted to peanut contact while in line for ride at WDW. we did ohana with no problems. while in line no peanut product was seen but he did come in contact with and he reacts right away so it had to be there

Thanks for all the input! I think we may cancel or do the neverland club! I didn't think of that option.

So has anyone done the NeverLand Club with a PA child? We have avoided Ohana's since DS was diagnosed PA at two just because I have an issue with that many people around us eating peanut sauce. I never even considered one of the kid's clubs. With everything it takes to make school safe, I just never thought of them as a safe option. Do they have P&J's still on the dinner menu? Epi Trained? Interesting thoughts?

I would bring clorox wipes to any restaurant and wipe down the whole table and chair area your child may touch.

Interesting as I told DH just an hour ago that I wouldn't be comfortable taking our allergy kid to 'Ohana. He is GF/PN/TN free, and he's 2. He is not severe. While I'm generally pleased with how Disney handles allergies, and I've loved 'Ohana in the past, the abundance of nut items just makes me too uncomfortable.

Sending a child with a peanut allergy to the Neverland Club might not be the wisest choice if they react to secondary contact. The last time we were dropping off our kids, there were 3 boys scarfing down Uncrustables before their parents took them in. They came in & just started playing. No handwashing. My kids eat peanut butter every single day & I can't guarantee that their hands are peanut free when they're done either. They don't serve anything with peanuts but that doesn't mean there won't be traces in the club.

Thanks again for all the input. I think we will not use the clubs either. Maybe we can trade off with our friends for an evening out.

I wouldn't do 'Ohana or any Asian place with a severe peanut allergy...If you do, make sure to have an epi pen just in case!
