Help! My DS picked Ohanas for his special birthday dinner and he's allergic to peanuts/tree nuts. :scared1: I know they have peanut sauce and I think the noodles have some sort of nuts too don't they? I really hate to tell him no...:guilty:

From past trips I know WDW can be very accomodating with allergies but I always steared clear of Ohanas. Anyone ever go to Ohanas with peanut allergies? Please share your experiences and tell me if you felt "safe". I really want my DS to have his special request but not if its not safe.

I did post this on the disabilites board but no response. I was hoping more traffic on this board could get some results.

I have severe tree nut allergies and was treated extra special at Ohana's. The only thing I could not have was the Banana Foster dessert and the chef told me he would make me something special. Boy did he ever! It was on a skewer stick standing upright, vanilla ice cream, thick pinapple chunk, chocolate chip cookies, bananas and he came to the table with it and poured on the hot fudge sauce. Let's just say I was the envy of all the surrounding tables! LOL.

Are you allergic to peanuts too? The menu has a dipping peanut sauce on it and I know sometimes noodles have peanutty ingredients. So you felt safe? I really appreciate your response!

We're trying it in January with tree nut allergies. Chef TJ is now at Ohana's and I hear all the time on these boards, that he is by far 1 of, if not the best chef that handles food allergies at Ohanas.

I have heard other people post that they asked for the peanut sauce not to be put on the table. Not sure about the noodles.

Try the search function on this. I know I've read a few things about peanut allergies at Ohanas.

Good Luck.

I have heard a lot about Chef TJ going out of his way to make it an amazing dining experience for everyone with a lot of personal attention.

I have also heard that he only works certain days and the other Chef there not accomodating (although I'm sure he would make sure you avoided anything that would make you sick). Chef TJ is known for whipping up extra special dishes as substitutes.

Please post your question on the Disabilities board. There are a lot of people there who will help with special dietary concern questions.
