I undertand it is a "family style" meal but is there entertainment for the kids and what not. Or is it just dinner.

Would you choose Ohana or Kona Cafe for 2 adults and a toddler?

I've never been to Kona, but we do 'Ohana every trip. It is our hands down favorite restaurant. You're right, the food is family style (and all you can eat). Some things (salad, shrimp, etc.) are brought in bowls to the table. The meats are brought out on scewers and the servers give you as much as you'd like. The entertainment for the kids is great. There is a lady (whose name escapes me) who has been there every time we have...she runs a hula lesson, coconut races, limbo contest, etc. It's really a great time. We also time it so we are there to watch Wishes. It's awesome!

:thumbsup2 'Ohana is a must for us EVERY time we go to WDW!!! You should definately give it a try! The food is out of this world, it is a great atmosphere, and there is some entertainment for the children as the previous poster mentioned. You should check out the menue on the menue section of the disboards!!!! I haven't been to Kona Cafe yet, but IMHO you cannot go wrong with 'Ohana! :goodvibes

Forgot to mention that Kona is on our list this year. In a couple of weeks I'll let you know what we think of it :)

I happen to think Kona and Ohana are two of the best restaurants at WDW; however, if I had to pick one, it would be unquestionably Ohana. Kona is great for every meal, and I wouldn't miss it for a trip, but Ohana is just a favorite, and is really quite good.

I agree!!! :wizard: Especially if you have kids, I would go to Ohana. It is my favourite Disney restaurant. And, even though I don't have/like kids very much... I really enjoy the experience of watching them have fun at Ohana. :Pinkbounc It is a wonderful atmosphere.

Personally, we just don't like Ohana. We've been 3 times and will not be back. The food is dry and overcooked. I've never been impressed by the service, either.

Is your toddler outgoing? Will he or she enjoy the games? The place is quite loud. Is your child ok with that?

Kona is very good! We have eaten all 3 meals there and have even been disappointed. Of the 2, I would pick Kona in a minute! :thumbsup2

Ohana is fantastic for dinner...we have 2 llittle ones, 4 and 1, and they loved it. Kona Cafe is definitely one of our favorites for breakfast...

We are also trying Ohana for our first trip this Dec. with our toddler. Can't wait. I've read great reviews for this restaurant

I have a very picky eater (he is trying more food choices) can you tell me how spicy the meat is?? :listen: DS likes the occassional satay chicken as long as it's not what he calls too spikey :rotfl: . Is there an alternative childrens choice available and do you need to request in when booking??
I'm trying to sort out ADRs one of which is for my DH's birthday and need a little more info before we call

OHanna is great a must do for our family. We love their new menu! The shrimp have to be the best around. As for how spicey the meat is, it has a smokey taste. Their new dessert is to die for! Everyone should try OHanna!

Ohana was a lot of fun. The children can order from a kids menu ( I believe the food is from Kona). My DS got a hot dog and mac and cheese.

Thankyou everyone :grouphug: I now feel very happy about choosing this for one for our ADRs :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We tried to have a meal here some years back but we didn't make it unfortunately due to illness, so we are very keen to go on our next trip and our DS will enjoy the fun!! Can any of you tell us what price to expect if we also order a birthday cake when we call to book( Will do the birthday button at GS during the day and we are hoping that DH has a great day)and does O'Hana do special things for birthdays??

I went to 'OHana twice this past year and I loved it. Once it was DH and DAdultS. We had a 7:40 ADR but waited to be seated until about 8:10. Unplanned, we were having desert when Wishes started. We were at a window table and it was spectacular.
In April I went with DS and his family. A totally different experience with little ones along. They loved the singing and the games, as well as the food.
Unexpectedly, our family was "Honored" for being the 50th family seated that night. They sang to our table and gave us Lei's to wear. Lots of fun.
We also ate at Kona and it was delicious.
I think everyone should try 'OHana at least once.

Thank you everyone for all the imput. I have just booked Ohana. My almost 2 year old will have a blast from the sounds of it. The CM who changed my booking said I made a good decesion to change from the prior ressie to here. I am very happy with my decesion and so is the rest of the family.
